Multi-Projector setup for outdoor movie/sports watching
Hey everyone, I'm new to everything projectors, so bear with me.
I have a NEC PA550W I kept from getting thrown away at work. I bought an Elite Screens Yard-Master 2 110" screen for it.
At ~110" the 1280×800 resolution and 5500 lumens are getting stretched pretty thin. It certainly works and we enjoy it even better after the sun is long gone. But it has me craving more.
I've looked at these projectors online and they can be had from around $150-300 with plenty of life still in the bulb. Is it technically possible and economically sensible to buy 2-3 more of these projectors and use NVIDIA Surround or Mosaic to raise the DPI and perceived brightness? I've got a wooden platform that I can secure the projectors to that should keep everything aligned.
I haven't seen this idea online outside of commercial or very specific setups. Never for home theater or backyard movie watching. If there are better solutions or newer projectors that might be able to achieve a better image at a similar cost, I'm all for considering them.
