Looking for one step above HY300 (with no internal dust issues)

I recently got an HY300 for cheap and was really surprised how well it worked in my bedroom. I installed a removable shelf, and it all worked great.

But a couple of days in, a spec of dust (presumably a tiny hair - possibly from my beard) appeared inside the lens. I have tried some non-intrusive ways to clean it, but it hasn't budged.

I've seen some videos deconstructing the projector and cleaning it like that, but I just wonder if that's more harm than it's worth, given it wasn't a huge investment. I'll probably just send this back to Amazon for a refund, but now I'm stuck on whether I:

  • Get the same projector, with the (seemingly high) chance this happens again
  • Get a projector a level above this one, with more of a guarantee that there won't be any internal dust issues

The projector being able to tilt is also essential, since I had it at a slight angle to fit on our wall. It's also set about ~13 feet away, and I had the digital zoom on Max to fit. This model was battery-powered, which made it easy to move around without always needing a power cable, but that seems to be a rare feature on projectors.

I see options like this (deal right now for $250), which seem like better projectors on the surface, but I'm concerned they may have the same manufacturing issues.

Looking forward to your thoughts/recommendations.

Region: Canada

Room: 13 ft x 13 ft

Budget: ~$500, but ideally ~$250 range

Looking at ordering the Philips ProPix 860... Any glaring issues I'm missing?

I'm in the US looking for a budget projector. Fairly small room, about 10 x 14. My criteria was a projector that fit the budget, had Full HD resolution, and was likely to be pretty quiet. This one seems great... But am I missing anything glaring? I don't need any "smart" features, that and audio will be handled by an AVR I already own.

Thanks in advance!

Need Help Picking First Projector

No tape measure but I guesstimate my room to be around 12x12, I have a shelf for a projector about 5 feet up the wall facing opposite wall.

I live in the USA. My max budget would be with shipping 600.

We are both video gamers, I will mirror screens around the house and we watch frequent movies and tvs. We have blackout curtains but wouldn't mind being able to use it in daylight. I am somewhat of a latency snob, good balance of speed and colors would be great. Deeper blacks the better.

I eyed up the Benq ht2050 for 500$ ish on ebay, plus 70$ shipping. And also am considering the benq TH575 via ebay as well for 500$ (both sub 300 lamp hours). I also got my eye on a auction for epson home 2250.

Honestly I need advice, should I be looking at different options entirely or which of these is a good pick?

Thanks!

TCL C1 Help! Small blotch after 1 day.

Hi! Posting this here since the r/projectors sub seems to be meant for higher end stuff.

We just bought a TCL C1 smart projector on Amazon.es (we're in Portugal) for our bedroom, since its too small to comfortably fit a full sized TV. It was on sale and had amazing reviews. It arrived on Wednesday and it was awesome at first. Google TV OS, everything licensed and working beautifully. Yesterday though, during the projectors second only use, my partner noticed a small blotch on the projection. I thought it might be dust at first, but cleaning the lens did absolutely nothing.

Should I return it to Amazon? We were really excited to finally have a "TV" in our bedroom, so we're heartbroken.

I've attached some pictures of said blotch.

Thanks!

Currently trying to decide between elfin flip plus and benq gv32 for a 12x8 foot dark room. Will mostly be for youtube/movies, long watchtimes. The elfin's $100 cheaper. The specs seem pretty similar from what I can tell, what would be the better choice or something else ~$400 in USA?

Replaced display of my Hisense 55u7h or get a projector under 20000 Indian Rupees

The display of my Hisense tv shorted and the only option is to get a new display for 20k (india) aka 200 usd

I'm thinking about getting a budget projector and used it to watch movies and web series for around 10 hrs, with 10% light and 90% darkness in my 11 x 11 inches room, i can use firestick and mostly gonna watch local content via usb stick.

Note: I'll be getting the display replaced from a local store, who is offering 1 year warranty on the display

Edit: I'm thinking about getting a wzatco yuva go max or crossbeat lumex cine or Lumio arc 5 (optionally at elfin flip plus, but it have low ansi lumens)

Edit: I'm doing research on budget projector via the hook guy on YouTube, but most of the options shown there are not available in India

Ps: replace the display of the tv or get a new projector, the tv is already 2 years old at this point and during warranty, the whole tv unit was replaced due to patches on screen.

Looking for a projector & screen for camping (USA)

Hey all! Like the title says, I'm looking for a projector and screen to use while camping with friends this summer. We're planning to put the screen against my friends' camper, which is ~16" long, and using it to play on a Steam deck. I'd like to keep everything below $300, but that's not a hard cap. I know exactly nothing about projectors, so any and all help is appreciated!

Best material for cheap DIY projector screen?

Was going to just use my white wall, but I've got wood and stuff lying around that I can use to make a frame for a fixed tension screen, so I figured, why not build my own screen for cheap? This will be for an Optoma PK31, which seems to be built on the same platform as the Phillips GamePix 900 (I believe it comes from the same factory, but PK31 has slightly better *advertised/on-paper* specs, like brightness, colour, etc, and unfortunately no reviews to confirm any of this). I'm buying from Canada, and my room is 240*200 inches large (I think I can comfortably get 120 inches of screen size in this room) if it matters. Use will be some console gaming, and movies. My budget is around 100 CAD and under, less is better of course.

Italy or Norway, 300-400 euro with some wiggle room

Hi, I want to buy a projecor in the price range of 300-400 euro. I prefer to buy a new one, not a used one. I know a used one would be more value for money but I really just don't want that.

I am currently about to leave a semester abroad where I've been in Italy so i thought it would be a good time to get one now. I have access to any Italian sites + Norwegian ones. Though i assume the latter is far more expensive.

It would be on an open shelf and would project onto a wall that is 3meters away. The space it will project onto currently has a large 55 inch tv there as is, so there is a lot of space. (Of course this will be removed though) The shelf hasn't been installed yet, so I am able to put it in whatever spot works best on the opposite wall, so this is not an issue.

projector screen buying advice

Hi guys! [Europe, Germany, max budget: 100€]

So after the friendly PlayStationPepe gave me some help ~1 month ago on choosing a projector I finally went with a dlp based projector, the normal Elfin Flip and I've been very pleased with it so far :D!

But now the time has come to look for a proper screen.

In general my setup is like this:

~72" image with ~1.7m distance (enough space to make the screen bigger in my room)

Therefore a minimum screen with 72" would be best I guess.

Since I have a free standing pull up bar in my room I could easily mount some screen with hooks onto the bar.

Options Ive seen so far:

- cheap aliexpress 72" or 84" projector screen

https://a.aliexpress.com/\_EJu8Ofs

- used esmart (as it seems some "higher" quality german brand) 90" screen from 2020 for around 40€, would need to buy a steel cable to mount it, and its also retractable!

Would be happy to hear your guys opinion on it ^^

USA - newbie looking for guidance

Hello! I'm in the USA (midwest region), looking for an easy to use projector for the occasional outdoor movie night. I'd like one bright enough to handle early dusk. I'd prefer to spend around $300-500 but am willing to go up to $1000. I'd really prefer something easy to just plug in and go. Something with a built in OS/apps such as Plex, Netflix, etc. Also with Bluetooth ability to connect to a speaker.

I understand in the 300-500 range most projectors won't be bright enough for a good image at dusk/early dusk, but if there's something out there that would meet the "good enough" bar, that'd be great. I don't need it to be movie theater level quality. Just trying to create a fun space this summer. Appreciate the help!

Oh and so far I've looked around on Amazon only. The coule that caught my eye are the Happrun kc7 pro and the Elephas w1k. Thanks!
