Looking for a projector recommendation in India — ₹20k budget

I'm looking for some advice on buying my first projector in India.
My budget is currently around ₹20,000, although I'm willing to stretch it somewhat if there's a significant improvement in quality or reliability.
I've gone through quite a few projector recommendations and reviews, but I'm finding the Indian market particularly confusing. There seem to be a lot of projector brands selling products that appear to be based on Chinese OEM models with different branding, and it's difficult to figure out which ones are actually decent and which ones are essentially the same cheap hardware under a different name.
I originally had a ₹10k budget, then increased it to ₹15k, and eventually ₹20k. Now I'm wondering whether I'm simply trying to force a projector into a budget where it doesn't make sense.
My use case is fairly simple: movies, TV shows, YouTube and general entertainment at home. I'm not looking for a high-end home theatre, but I do want something that provides a genuinely good viewing experience and isn't likely to become a regret purchase.
At this point, I'm considering three possibilities:
- Buy a projector around ₹20k–₹25k if there's actually a worthwhile option.
- Increase the budget if that's what it realistically takes to get a decent projector.
- Forget the projector altogether and buy a second-hand TV from Facebook Marketplace, which may provide better picture quality and reliability for the money.
So I'd really appreciate some advice from people who have actually used projectors in India:
- Is ₹20k–₹25k enough for a decent projector?
- Which models would you recommend in this price range?
- Are there any brands/models available in India that I should specifically look at?
- Are the commonly recommended budget projectors actually worth buying, or are they better avoided?
- At what budget does it start making sense to buy a projector rather than a TV?
- Given my room dimensions and throw distance above, what would you recommend?
I'm happy to spend a little more if there's a clear reason to do so. I just don't want to keep increasing my budget from ₹10k → ₹15k → ₹20k → ₹30k without knowing where the point of diminishing returns is.
