Can unions help with bullying or harrassment from a manager
This might be an obvious question but I have never been in a union and I am still learning about it. I imagine this is more dependent on the specific scenario.
I have had previous jobs in the past where I have dealt with horrible managers who created an unhealthy work environment for me and was toxic to me psychologically and emotionally. In most of these cases though and compared to most people who have worked for a longer time then me, they would say that it isn’t horrible but it is unpleasant, however I struggle with autism and bipolar (none of the managers knew I was bipolar though) and I have emotional issues, and there has been times where managers have been very cold and rude and have been very inconsiderate with both my struggles and my mental health. It was overall persistent in the work environment, but it wasn’t outright horrible for some of the jobs, just in many cases at the very least somewhat shitty or even cruel sometimes.
I an asking because I am curious on if joining a union would help protect me or vouch for me if things were to get too intense, either by union supervisors or whatnot, for future reference
