I’m like 90% I self diagnosed a mental issue while writing

I come up with ideas for my book while walking and listening to music or an audiobook. I was in the middle of imagining a scene were a mind mage diagnosis the MC. I mirrored some of his mental issues off of my own. This resulted in me coming up for some reasons for the MCs need for external validation and this overcharging of his accomplishments and pretty much diagnosing why I do or have the urge to do simulate things. I then realized that and thought it was funny. Now I’m by no means a mental health expert and am probably speaking out of my ass, but there’s a chance I’m a genius.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Is Dissonance any good

I’ve seen this crop up a bit in the subreddit as a pretty good book, but it hasn’t happened often enough for me to pick it up like I did with cradle. So I’m asking those who have read it, is it good?

Race Name Pole (Please read text before voting)

In my book I had a race which I was having trouble naming. I asked the subreddit for suggestions and picked out my favorites.

The race itself is a humanoid race with features derived from the concepts they embody. The race is more of a classification, like elemental, they describe them, but they can be wildly different. The people of the race embody two opposing concepts, for example: life and death, fire and ice, order and chaos, creation and void, etc.

Without further ado here is the poll.

What Mana Type Should The Undead Have As An Affinity

So there are two mana types that are associated with the undead. Either Death Mana or if the world has this as a mana type Undeath Mana.

So I guess the question is more; Should Undeath Mana be a thing.

My personal opinion is that death mana should be associated with creatures either born with a natural affinity, (Wraiths, Death Elementals, etc,) or by creatures using it as a tool, like humans with a class that affects a person so. The undead are more of a twisting of life and death. Death represents the end of life, or a new chapter in your existence as a spirit or soul. Undeath is antithetical to this as it prevents this by happening. Basically making the undead antithetical to death and life at the same time. The whole argument as to whether Undeath is bad or evil as it is a twisting of the natural order is also interesting but i generally see it like chaos and order meeting to make creation. Anyway, necromancers and zombies should have a separate mana affinity from death.

Those are my thoughts, What are yours?

The Sacredness Of Stats

I’ve always thought that stats were somewhat sacred. A persons stats are what justify the importance of levels. My favorite book when it comes to this is Primal Hunter. All the most talented people have similar stats maybe a 5% difference. The titles that give stats dont really go above 20% increases, for example being the most talented C-Grade ever will only gain 20% extra stats. Sure the difference in stats between Jake and the average person is insane, but other peak talents have very similar stats to him.

What i dont like is the way Welcome To The Multiverse handles stats. Silas gains double stays for killing a squirrel, sure he was the first person to kill something in earth but that at most deserves a 10% increase it wasn’t a difficult achievement but pure luck. Silas is given extra stats for basically breathing and that annoys me.

Azerinth healer is kinda I the middle for me, every level gives the same stats no matter what, but the MC gets like 500% stats for free due to having a body enhancement that is always active and insane class bonuses for body enhancements. Sure the classes are special and she got them for some insane stuff, but the shear disparity in stats this allows for is too much. Even Jake who has insane plot armor and a bloodline that is OP has a 100% bonus to all stats in the last book.

Basically stat disparities are fine as long as the very best have around the same amount of stats and the average joes have similar stats, extra stats should be given for incredibly hard achievements, not just lucking out.

These are just my thoughts, I know others have different ideas. Think what you think stand all that Jazz.

End Of Book Two With Trian

Dude, when Trian was talking about his family towards the end when the hand squad was reminiscing, I was so sad. The chapter with Eve before that pretty much said that Edwin killed Trians family. He was all like, I’m sure it’ll be a cool point of tension between the two if they meet, but I was yelling at my phone that “No Trian! You won’t go back to your family, they’re dead!”

This Is A Rant About Stat Minmaxing

I would like to preface this to say that almost all the books I am going to talk about I like, the only one I don’t really like is Awaken Online and that is for many reasoned outside of the absurd minmaxing Jason does. Like what books you like and all that, I’m just putting this out there

1st why is Jake from primal hunter minmaxing perception to be double all his other stats, i get the reasons that each free point is worth more due to stat multipliers, his bloodline is based of of the stat, and it allows for better learning and spell casting, but why can’t you at least have one other high stat. your agility should absolutely be useful as an archer and short weapons fighter.

2nd why is Derek from system universe minmaxing into defensive stats so much, those are great stats for surviving and such, but he doesn’t even have a tank class, why is your vitality twice your intelligence, you have a class based on using mana and magic.

3rd I dnfd Awaken online due to Jason using necromancy and only necromancy in his first two books. The story being set in a game is also a turnoff, but the final turnoff was the fact that his willpower was ten times his next highest stat, I rant about primal hunter and system universe but this is in different level

4th I haven’t read this book and probably have no right to rant, but the description that I read gave me enough to put it in this rant, you are mage and have high spell casting stats, why are you doing this to me

I would like to end this by saying that I get that the minmaxing is the joke or central to the character, I just wanted to rant for a bit.

So Azenrinth Healer Isn’t A Healer, I’m Happy

I was originally turned off by the idea of a healer class mc. I think it’s a cool concept, but the combat is just kinda boring when the mc you want to be an at least above average fighter isn’t doing so but just healing. Welcome to the multiverse is kinda like this, sometimes he only does support and I get bored during these fights after a while. But I just reached half way through chapter 3 and I’m happy to know that she’s more of a monk.

Lit-RPG Recommendations

Any recommendations based on my thoughts on books:

Dungeon Crawler Carl: S-Tier ( The greatest books I’ve ever read)

He Who Fights With Monsters: A-Tier ( The early books were peak, but the later books felt a little dragged out)

Primal Hunter: A+ - Tier ( Story isn’t the best but is okay and the world building, system, and combat is peak)

Warformed: A-Tier( Really fun and cool not much to say about it)

System Universe: B+ -Tier (The idea and concepts are cool and I like some of the jokes, but I feel like the writing could be a little bit better overall, still really like it in general)

Chrysalis: B- -Tier ( I think the writing is good and so are the concepts, but it just isn’t for me)

Cradle: A+ -Tier ( really good all around and didn’t get dragged out)

Mark of the Fool: A- -Tier (kinda like HWFWM, but to a lesser degree, better at the begging and fell off. Not sure about his girlfriend/fiancé/wife, she seemed like one thing but then was something else)

Welcome to the Multiverse: B+ -Tier ( I can see some of the main complaints about the series, but I think it’s kinda fun if you ignore them)

Awaken Online: currently listening but might DNF ( the narrators isn’t the best and, the sample made me think he would be more of a worrier and rogue kinda like Jason Asano, and I don’t like the necromancy thing as much as he doesn’t fight, also the problem with it being the game and not real life makes it kinda weird. Any way idk)

Anyway any recommendations?
