Poll: Can we get a rules/guidelines clarification?
Question about the “No scalping or price gouging” rule. Asking to understand and not call anyone out. Please don’t ban me again. I’m not name calling or being a jerk (and never did. Saying someTHING was sheisty is not the same as calling someONE sheisty. I’m seeking to understand. Maybe the mods and the potential sub members aren’t on the same page.
What qualifies as scalping, price gouging, or flipping? Could we get some concrete examples?
This is directly from the rules as of May 19.
“If top dollar is your top priority, you may need to go elsewhere to sell. Leave the profit-flipping to online retailers and auction sites. We’re all glove enthusiasts and value a good deal, so if you need to "make your money back" or turn a profit on a glove, please list it on the kinds of sites mentioned above, not r/BaseballGlovers. If you try to flip a glove above MSRP, or above retailer/auction market value, sell a Wilson "Bonanza" glove or Marucci Wildcard a week after the sale for a markup, or any other obvious gouging... you will be warned and you post will be removed.
Transactions and Sales
We want to keep the sub honest and thriving. Remember, the goal is to share our love of Baseball Gloves and equipment, offer better than retail and exclusive deals to our community you can't find elsewhere. We aren't here to profit off each other or take advantage of our newer members. We are here to Foster a welcoming community to sell and buy baseball gear and where everyone get a W.”
Given the above bolded parts…if anyone benefits from a glitch in pricing and buys multiple gloves…and then re-lists them “below MSRP” but still well above what all informed buyers know was paid…how is that any different from the Wilson bonanza example? Is that not against the rules?
If people would like please comment what the threshold is from “fair price” to “that’s a gouge.”
