How did I do? Outside of cleaning up of course haha.

Just looking to add some extra pop to the backyard it’s pretty bland. I don’t love the fireplace it was there when I moved in and just never have got around to doing anything landscape wise as I’ve been focusing on getting the yard in better shape.

So, I mowed this area down to basically dirt but there was still 0.5-1inch left when I got done. I then cultivated it using a tool I got at Ace Hardware. I think the weed is Daligrass but the roots grow horizontally and not vertically if that helps any and they tend to be pretty long as I pulled a few spots out. After this I spread some seed on top and have been watering 2-3 times a day. Will this work I’m guessing not. What should I do instead? Is the weed Daligrass? Quackgrass? May need to zoom in sorry for the poor photo in advance.

Moved into the house a year ago and the yard was a complete joke. I have since got it turned around but noticing this jump to an elite lawn is pretty dang tough. I need advice from anyone and everyone on what to do. I won’t be offended - roast me if necessary.

There are still brown spots in places and in the second photo a bunch of what looks like quackgrass but I could be wrong. Just need help knowing how to solve these two issues at the minimum and then any other advice that has worked for you guys would be much appreciated!

Front lawn suffers from no shade so it gets torched with the sun. Any advice? I’m embarrassed of this lawn as I have heard my neighbors laughing at the effort I put in and my front yard still looks like this. Roast me I don’t care I just want it fixed so I can shut the neighbors up.
