Returning to henna after 28 years! Greys advice needed.
Hello, hope someone can help allay my confusion!
I am in the UK.
TL;dr Deep red is the desired colour. Want to ensure the greys are brown first, so that they don't turn orange with direct henna.
I used to have henna red hair as my trademark back in the late 90s and then unfortunately got brainwashed against it by hairdressers, and perhaps due to then undiagnosed neurodivergence didn't think to get out of the habit of chemical dyes until now, aged 48, perimenopausal and very little hair left!
In a bid to regain my earlier identity, late edition, I am excited to get back to a henna red habit. But I have a good number of greys, and the remnants of old medium brown box dye on the lengths.
I have an idea that maybe I could do the greys with henna and indigo mix to get them to medium brown before a whole head of henna red, but I see conflicting methods for returning greys to medium brown via henna and indigo in this sub.
Would applying indigo and henna mix on the greys followed by hennaing whole head red the next day be a feasible approach, anyone know? And will the faded chemical dye on the lengths cause any issues?
Many thanks for your patience with me on this!
(Edited to clarify I meant that the first step I am considering is a henna plus indigo mix just on the greys).
