Mayor McDonough Has Had Better Days, But His Hat Stays Looking Sharp

No matter where I drag this bloviating oaf's body, the hat stays floating there above his neck hole. I'm thinking about dragging him into the Colonial Taphouse and sitting him there with his head on the table. But that would take two trips, and I'm not that motivated.

The Fate of Cito: Does Anyone Actually Kill Him?

Even on my most callous of characters, I just can't bring myself to kill (or allow to be killed) Kent Connolly, and my man here, Cito. He's been through too much and just wants his family left alone. I always help him out.

I will admit, that on my very first playthrough of NW, I did a QS and killed him just to see how hard the gorillas would be to fight. But I loaded the save afterwards, and he's lived every time since.

So, does anyone actually kill Cito? If so, why? And "Because my character is an evil SOB" is actually a perfectly reasonable response.

ETA: Please don't downvote people for saying they kill him. I asked why, and they're answering truthfully. That shouldn't call for censure.

The Unluckiest Settler in the Commonwealth

Meet James. I first encountered him at the random spawn site under the railroad bridge near Starlight Drive-In. He was a prisoner of some Super Mutants. I rescued him, of course. But he was so shook up from almost being dinner he just ran off. I was going to offer you a job, James, but whatever.

A day later I returned to Starlight Drive-In from questing to find the Deathclaw random encounter under the railroad bridge. A Legendary Deathclaw and a Deathclaw Matriarch were fighting...and James was there, punching away at them with his bare fists. Apparently, James has a death wish.

I sniped the Legendary from a distance, then got closer with my shotgun to take on the matriarch. I apparently entered VATS at the same moment her finishing kill move triggered on James. I killed her in VATS...and James sat on the ground, legless yet alive.

Now when I come to Starlight, James "stands" silent vigil over his legs, hovering there like a Mr. Handy.

I'm thinking of using the console to give him different clothes to see if it makes his legs reappear. I could "recycleactor", but I'm curious to see how long he stays there.

Doc Weathers is a Miracle Worker!

I was at Finch Farm when I heard a serious fight going on at the spot west of it where a gunner bot can spawn. I snuck up there and saw an Assaultron eye-lasering Doc Weathers and his crew. I killed it, but too late. Doc's guards and brahmin had all met with unfortunate ends. As Michael Scott might say, all had their capas detated.

A few in-game days passed, and Doc started showing up with his hovering-headed guards and a brahmin head with no body. The guards function normally; they eat, drink, give their empty little threats, everything. The brahmin head does normal brahmin things...just without a body.

I was around lvl 65 when they were "killed". I'm lvl 105 now, and Doc's still wandering the Commonwealth with his caravan of horrors...

TIL You Can Start The Cabot House Quests Without First Talking to Edward Deegan

I'm lvl91 and realized that for the first time in all of my playthroughs I had not encountered Edward Deegan out and around. So I went to Cabot House and clicked on the intercom. Two easy speech checks later, I'm in the house and hearing new dialogue from Edward and Jack in order to kick off the quests.

Almost 9500 hours in this game, and still finding new things.

First-Time Random Encounter in Nuka World

Everyone's familiar with the random encounter at the building just east of the Nuka-World Red Rocket. Usually there's a small battle going on between Gunners, Super Mutants, or NW Raiders. And it resets often, even in Survival. So it's a good place for getting some experience and gear.

Today, for the first time in all of my playthroughs (almost 9500 hours in FO4), there was not a battle going on. instead, six or seven gazelles had been slaughtered by feral and rabid dogs. I killed the dogs, sure that I'd find some mutants or raiders or gunners. But nope, just the animals.

Has anyone else ever had a gazelle slaughterhouse for this random encounter? And yes, I have mods installed, but none that affect this.
