Today I was finally validated with my peri

Hello- long time lurker, first time poster. I’m 39 turning 40 in a few months and after a year of every single blood test being “normal” despite almost all of the peri symptoms being present, and being told I was just having bad PMDD flair-ups it was finally agreed upon by my GP that I am in peri. This came during my women’s wellness visit this morning (we have a shortage of OBGYN’s in my area) as she was attempting to perform the PAP and noticed signs of peri with my cervix (thinness, color, lack of mucus).

My mother and maternal grandmother were done with periods around 46-47 so I knew this would likely be in the cards for me. It felt so incredibly validating and I laid there crying from relief of not feeling crazy anymore. We are starting me on low HRT in conjunction with my existing Mirena and taking it from there. This post is just me getting my feelings out about how big the emotions around the validation can feel, while also the slight sadness of aging as a woman. What a mixed bag. I’m so thankful for this community of women. You’ve all helped me this last year as a followed. Thank you ❤️
