The Wild Feel Like a Completely Different Team Suddenly

Still a little fired up after finally getting to sit down and watch the full Calgary/Montreal match.

Honestly… salvaging a point against the league leaders while this squad still feels maybe 60-70% healthy is pretty impressive. The entire flow of the game changed once Moore and Jones came on, and that’s without Hess, Thurton, and Robertson even fully back yet.

Then you add in the stability, aggression, and high-IQ keeping performance from Katelin in the back and it starts to make you wonder… if this group can ever get fully healthy, do they actually have the pieces to be there at the end?

Yes, every club deals with injuries over a long season, totally get that. But Calgary suddenly feels a lot more dangerous than their early results maybe suggested.

Also hearing rumors they may still have an import(?) or additional slot available for the June window, which could be another potential game changer. Can anyone more plugged into the NSL confirm?

Wild Debut today? - Katelin Talbert

Seeing some chatter on socials that the long-anticipated debut of goalkeeper Katelin Talbert could happen today against Montreal.

After her debut was delayed by a preseason injury, it looks like she may finally get the opportunity to step between the sticks for the Wild. With the injury list still hitting the team pretty hard, there’s definitely hope she can provide a spark and steady presence at a critical time.

Tough weather conditions are expected as well, which could make for quite the test if she does get the call today.

After a difficult year in the WSL, it’ll be exciting to see whether this becomes the opportunity for her to reset the trajectory and remind people why there’s been so much anticipation around her game, at least here in the states.
