Depressed , $733 dollars a month is insan3.

Update : a lot of you guys are very dumb and ignorant - I should have posted from the start that I’m single, Canadian resident who was born here , NO KIDS , I have none ! I stay active consistently if I can’t do the gym I take a walk for a good hour. The amount of ignorance is crazy really disgusting how people assume shit it’s quite pathetic . I apply for jobs constantly .. To the helpful ppl thanks
———————————-

I have only ever received one payment from Ontario works by the way.

have been unemployed since September 2025. I have been actively trying to find work, but this has significantly worsened my depression and overall mental health.

I have multiple diagnosed conditions from my doctor and I am currently taking prescribed antidepressants and stimulants medication. I am also in the process of starting an ODSP application, but the process feels long and overwhelming.

I was previously denied EI after being terminated for attendance-related issues, and I am currently going through the reconsideration process. I am unsure how long this will take.

At this time, I am in urgent financial hardship. My utilities are at risk of being shut off, and I am struggling to manage basic needs. With the upcoming holiday weekend (Victoria Day), I am also concerned about delays in accessing support services.

I need guidance on any programs that may be able to help with immediate financial support, housing stability, and basic necessities.

***Btw I’m not trying to be a whiny asshole … just looking for some guidance I don’t have any family and I know it’s hard for everyone right now 💜

What is everyone doing for work right now?

What is everyone doing for work right now?

I’m genuinely asking because I feel stuck. Especially for people who are single, living alone, with no family support and dealing with depression, how are you managing?

I ran out of EI and don’t qualify for any more ?!

Ontario Works is not enough to live on. $733 a month barely covers anything, and it feels like there are no jobs right now. ( I’ve only just gotten 1 payment so far)

I’m months behind on rent and honestly overwhelmed. I’m even trying to figure out if bankruptcy is the next step just to get out of debt.

I’m not trying to be dramatic, I’m just trying to understand how people are getting by in situations like this.

I don’t know what to do anymore it’s affecting my health greatly . Any online jobs, suggestions etc.

Please forgive my profanity!!!

What the fuck is going on with the job market here,. I am overly overly qualified and it seems like people are being extra picky and not hiring anybody despite their multiple job posting. For the retirement homes is anybody even looking at the resumes, especially if you have your food handlers what the fuck is taking so long for somebody to call back it’s actually ridiculous. Like I’m not trying to be lazy I want to work and make money.

I should mention that being unemployed is leading me to a deeper state of depression so that is why I am super frustrated. Being in the house unemployed, especially with mental health issues is not good at all.!!!

Just wondering if any women in the Brantford area would be interested in a casual women’s group focused mainly on mental health support?

The idea is to create a safe, low-key space to chat about current events, tackle stigma around mental health and life stuff, share experiences, and support each other. We could also do things like a book club, baking nights, or other relaxed activities to keep it fun and balanced.

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all having a great day.

This is my first time being on Ontario Works, and I was wondering how to apply for the Special Diet Allowance as someone with celiac disease. I’m a bit confused about whether it goes through ODSP or Ontario Works.

The website seems to be down right now for a lot of people, so I haven’t been able to check there.

I do have a disability, but I haven’t been asked to complete any forms yet, and my ODSP application is currently in progress.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.
