EDIT: Parcel has cleared customs and in possession of Royal Mail now. Awaiting delivery to my address 😮‍💨

I’m a UK customer whose parcel has been in customs within the country since the 12th August. It is now 16th of August. But this is my first time ever receiving a package from abroad

Is this wait period to be expected for customs clearance? I’ve been told it can take a week at most. So I’m not going to properly panic until then

Only reason I’m asking is because my expected delivery date was 10th-12th August so they failed that spectacularly
