Emergency Request for County Judge

The data centers "approved" in Temple now have access to not only draw unlimited water from the Trinity Aquifer, they can also dispose of contaminated waste water into it. This will affect not only all of Temple, but nearly 40 counties in Texas and several dozen more in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Please watch this (less than three-minute) video - we need to act now to prevent having our drinking water poisoned.

Dear Heaven's 27 Families

You've all been in my heart and prayers this past year, every day of this past week, and most especially today. I'm sure I'm not the only one who went to bed last night thinking of your dear daughters and woke up this morning thinking of them as well as all of you.

You've shown incredible strength through the last 12 months; your steadfast work to make sure the unforgivable and very preventable tragedy of last year never happens again has created safety standards for camps that will protect children for generations to come.

Please know all of us who have been parents (mom of two here) are thankful for all you've done. I can only imagine how difficult this weekend is for you, and I hope you know you're in many prayers.

Love and gratitude to all of you,

Emergency Situation in Temple

We have an emergency here in Temple - some new research by those who oppose the data centers shows Rowan has a well offering direct access to the entire Trinity Aquifer, which would affect more than 70 counties in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Please view this excellent summary of what we are facing - I hope you can access it via Facebook.

One committee member specifically said he'd like to see the camp shut down immediately, and that the Legislature would stand by them.

DHSH was the very last panel to appear before the committee & it was fascinating. The agency was told it now has the ability to shut down a camp if it is not in compliance (as per the new bills). Some discussion was made that appeals could delay an actual closure, but one agency attorney had mentioned an injunction was an option.

After some discussion about how that would work, it became evident the agency cannot pursue that until it gets outside permission (such as from the state Attorney General). It seemed pretty clear the Committee was/is fed up with Mystic and wants to keep them from operating this summer (some want them to close forever).

Britt seemed to antagonize the Committee by overriding Richard's statement the camp would not appeal if their license was denied (an appeal would allow them to still have camp this summer). Britt said yes they would appeal.

However, late in the process (like just minutes before the Committee adjourned) info surfaced that Mystic's license would still be in effect until August, so they could hold camp anyway even if denied for next year.

That may or may not have prompted the above discussion about an injunction. I highly recommend watching the last 10-15 minutes of the Tuesday hearing. Watch for when they call the DHSH panel up to testify. It's fascinating.

FYI - I wrote this quickly shortly after midnight, so please excuse any misinterpretations the summary may have. I hope some of the sub attorneys can comment on that part of the hearing. Meanwhile, I confess I'm a happy camper to see the support Heaven's 27 families have for shutting down Mystic.
