Celebrini at worlds

I’m sure many if not most of yall are watching celebrini at worlds but for anyone who hasn’t been able to I’ll say what I’m sure everyone already expects.

Celebrini has been one of, if not THE best player at worlds overall. Despite a pretty abysmal outing vs Sweden he has made up for that game in spades. He is tied for first in P/GP with Lucas Raymond and OEL. I can’t find TOI on the IIHF site but I’d be astonished if he wasn’t #1 on team Canada as they have been double and triple shifting him just like our good ol sharks love to do lol.

Especially that game against Denmark. While it was the Crosby show as he got 4 points in the 3rd period. Celebrini was the best player on the ice for almost the entire game. Constantly generating chances and was all over the ice.

Also tbh if Celebrini is always going 100% when he’s playing regular season hockey with us (he is). Then that must mean he’s going 110% anytime he puts on that Canada jersey cus he is fucking flying out there lol.

So I just wanted to let everyone who hasn’t been able to watch know that absolutely nothing has changed and Mack is still for sure the best player on the ice wherever he goes. I have been patiently waiting for the disappointment when he finally slows down and all this hype was just a fluke due to decades of sharks hockey teaching me to never get too hopeful. But this tournament, just like literally every other time I’ve watched him play, is forcing me to accept he’s just a god on ice just like reaves said.

As usual professor hockey with some excellent analysis. Basically matching exactly what I’ve been saying and thinking.

I’ve had a few discussions and I’m sure others have seen people pointing to Edmonton and Toronto as examples of what can happen if you don’t draft defenseman. Professor hockey explains perfectly why that argument is disingenuous or misinformed.

Pro scouting, trades, free agency, waiver wire pickups, and developing your own later round picks is more than adequate when it comes to building a successful roster and d corps.

If the sharks aren’t looking at drafting Reid and opt for the safer and more valuable pick in what will likely be stenberg then we are looking at having potentially one of the best forward groups the NHL has seen in quite some time if all development goes well. Complimenting that with a middling yet competent d corps could be more than enough to bring us into dynasty territory. MG just needs to do the work and take the risks that holland and chiarelli were not willing to do. And we have to hope and pray that the forwards we already DO have will not end up being choke artists like the leafs or unfortunately our former sharks.

I want to preface this by saying I thought the lottery was at 7pm pst and I timed my break at work to line up with it. I checked online and Lo and behold we already got second overall. Fuck yes.

Anywayyyyssss… with any pick lower than 2nd we were not getting an nhl ready player. We knew this draft was important but barring a trade we wouldn’t see dividends for some time. But with second overall we most certainly are if we go BPA. This teams second highest need is good wingers and there’s a reason that was reported as something we were looking for this season. Stenberg is the most nhl ready player in this draft and chances are if he gets drafted by the sharks he will be in the NHL next season to grow with our other young players.

I just saw a post pop up that winning the lottery doesn’t change our timeline. Uhhh yes it does lmfao. It doesn’t change the development of the rest of our squad but getting an nhl ready talent vs one we’d have to wait years for certainly does change things. Just like Macklin moved the timeline up considerably. If stenberg is all he is hoped to be and we end up drafting and keeping him then he 100% moves us up atleast a year timeline wise.

Fuck this is so exciting 😂

Since carolina is guaranteed to sweep the flyers, (I mean which hockey god decided this would be a good matchup for the second round 😂) will they legally have to dissolve the franchise when the hurricanes inevitably lose in the 3rd round AGAIN. It’s gonna be the 4th time in 8 years.

And don’t give me that “well let’s wait and see” bullshit. We all already know this is what’s going to happen so why pretend.
