Hooked up the Power BI modeling MCP to Codex and I finally stopped thinking about tokens altogether.

Everyone's been complaining about Claude eating through tokens mid-session and I get it, it was killing my flow too. Haven't seen anyone mention connecting it to Codex instead - which is currently free as far as I know. No more context running out, no more starting over. If you haven't tried this yet, might be worth it. Anyone else made this switch?

Not gonna lie, it took me half a day once to switch a report from monthly to quarterly measurements.

That's when I knew my architecture was the problem, not the code.

The fix: treating Field Parameters as a metadata layer instead of just a slicer - so your YoY/QoQ/MoM logic lives in the model, not in a giant SWITCH.

Question for developers working with Git:

When dealing with JSON-based files, the diffs are often not user-friendly at all. It’s really hard to understand what actually changed, and sometimes it feels almost impossible to properly review the differences.

How do you handle this in practice?

Do you use any tools or techniques to make diffs more readable?

Do you go over every change together with the developer?

Or do you just approve changes without digging too deep?

Would love to hear how others are dealing with this.
