Howdy folks I just acquired a new project bike out of my friends yard and I am eager to get this thang road worthy . I am new to road bikes , fixed gears , vintage bikes , etc. I have questions and am seeking guidance and advice and suggestions . Any info assistance collaboration on this project would be greatly appreciated and is welcomed thanks yall.
I’m going to add some photos of what I’ve got . I’m not sure what all I need to get it going and also don’t even know what some of these parts are. It’s looking like I’m going to need new tires, brake lines at least but I think the brakes themselves are good idk , a new seat , and I think i can just clean this chain and it’ll be good as new. What the heck are these little black things lol I took the old disintegrated tires and inner tubes off the wheels . There seems to be no bending or cracks in the frame or anything . Just some old paint and a little rust and dirt . Scrapes here and there . I feel like I’ve got some cool parts here idk but I like this thing I want to be zooming around asap! I imagine this is an expensive hobby. I ride a mountain bike all the time at local parks on trails and to get cigs from local store . I’ve found I really enjoy biking and it feels great to get my legs absolutely pumped up and hurts so good . I’ve always wanted to get a sweet mountain bike like a legit one that the pro downhill dudes use and shit. Love trial bikes and racing . I think I could even get into doing distance rides with people or the events I see in my city . Richmond Virginia . I’m twenty minutes outside of the city though . Anyways . I’m going to have many bikes eventually , a bmx one , I had a sweet old gt bmx bike I let my brother use* because he doesn’t even have a license and can ride it to work and stores and he “gave it to a little kid “ so that sucks but whatever I’ll get a new one one day . I don’t even really bmx like that I’m trash im a skater but I do like having one and riding it around . Maybe go to a dirt track or something . That’s something I really want to do is go to these dirt tracks around here there’s many . I’ve got a Mt climber roadmaster that’s actually my sisters that I’ve got at my house but she’s gonna want that back lol. She’s the neighborhood bike lady, any of the neighborhood kids wanna ride bikes they can borrow them she’s the best . Anyways I’ll have this sweet road bike and it’s essential for me to have a nice mountain bike I can take to off-road trails . Any suggestions on those are welcomed too. Idk shit about shit like what brands or even the correct verbiage and vernacular or names of parts I just know I’m a man who bikes and is trying to bike a lot more But currently my main focus is this Miyata 310! I’m not a rich man but I work hard enough consistently enough that I can manage to get shit I want if I really want it slowly but surely . Not working with much but I can get things one at a time till I get paid. Whatever thanks for reading if you did . Stay hydrated
