B850 Aorus Elite Sound Popping
Hi, I’m having an issue with sound popping on my GIGABYTE B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7.
When I have my audio jack connected directly to the motherboard, I get very noticeable popping whenever audio starts playing, when it stops, during PC startup, and basically any time there is a transition between silence and audio. I also suspect that the popping may occur while audio is already playing, but it is much harder to notice in that situation.
I’ve updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version, and of course I’m using the latest Realtek drivers. I’ve also tried completely uninstalling Realtek drivers and using only the Windows default audio drivers instead. I’ve tried various programs that are supposed to keep the sound card active, as well as registry changes to prevent audio device from being put into a low-power state, but nothing has helped.
The only way I can get rid of the problem is by plugging the jack into the front panel headphone jack. For some reason, the problem does not occur there at all. However, I don’t consider this a permanent solution, only a workaround, as I need to use the standard rear audio jack.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how to fix it? I honestly didn’t expect to be dealing with an issue like this on a motherboard that is definitely not a low-end model...
