Mold on stems during fermentation

Hello,

This is my first time fermenting home-grown tobacco, and I've run into a problem. After my first restack of the leave stack, some leaves are showing mold at the stem.

My process so far:

Leaves air-dried for about 5 weeks (very dry weather during that time)

Leaves looked dry near the stem too

To rehydrate I placed them in a plastic tub, misted with water, covered with a lid and let rest for one day

Then stacked the hydrated leaves (around 15) very tight into a stack

After 5 days, did my first check. while restacking I found mold on the stems of several leaves (look up photo)

Questions:

Could the stems have still held moisture even though the stems looked brittle, before I rehydrated the leaves?

Was the rehydration too heavy or uneven.

Was the stack too small or to tight?

Should I restack more often next time?

Would really appreciate advice

Thanks you very much!

Not sure if my tobacco is drying correctly

Hello there, first-time grower here (Burley 'Bursanica'). Trying to air-cure my leaves but i am not confident about my conditions.

My Setup: Leaves are hanging in a shed with no direct sun. Humidity has been unstable. Had several weeks at 50%or below, then it got more humid last week. Today I measured 70% in the shed.

I have got two batches:

- 1 week drying (photo 1)

- 2 weeks drying (photo 2 and 3).The one on photo 3 has some spots on it. Does it look like mold?

My questions:

Does my curing / drying progress look normal for week 1 and week 2?

What are those spots on photo 3?

Any tips on keeping humidity more stable?

I appreciate any input!
