My 10 week old English Springer Spaniel girl has started fighting sleep after going for her middle of the night potty breaks. I keep the potty break boring, silent, dark but when I put her back in she starts whining/barking/howling. The past few nights she has done this starting at about 1:30AM and it’s basically start and stop like that until I finally give up and get up with her for the day way earlier than I can handle.
I’ve had her in a crate next to my bed since bringing her home but bc she’s seemingly wanting to be awake during that time, if I so much as move a limb or roll over she wakes up and starts the process. I do let her out again in case she’s gotta go again but 9/10 she does nothing on additional visits
I’m trying her in a different room tonight in the hopes that it’ll help if she doesn’t hear me. What time are you doing everything in the evening (dinner, last nap, do you wake them if they’re sleeping already when you yourself are ready for bed) if your similar aged pup sleeps mostly thru the night or at least settles back into their crate well after potty breaks?
