New to oblivion
As someone who played Skyrim close to when It came out (I was 16 at launch) I was right at my peak for gaming and loved it. Truely felt revolutionary. I’d previously played fallout 3 and new Vegas and still some of my favourite games to this day. However I never played oblivion I remember being fairly keen for it back in the day seeing the screenshots in gaming magazines and such but just never got around to it. How does the remaster compare to Skyrim? Did they bring some of what they learned from Skyrim to the remake? Or is it a one for one copy simply with upgraded graphics. I feel there is a reason Skyrim is still relevant to this day but I just don’t see the same community and enthusiasm for oblivion. Regardless of the optimisation issues I’m aware of how does the actual gameplay compare? How is the world design? I still see people passionately praising morrowind (which I never played either) but when I look at it I can tell it’s just to dated in 2026 for me to get into and enjoy if I don’t have nostalgia for the original.
So my question is if I loved Skyrim will I enjoy the oblivion remake just as much or is Skyrim still superior in many ways simply because it’s a more modern title?
