In FilmDeg Miniatures' 10-hour interviews (link has timestamp), Kurt Kuhlmann, the quest designer for the final iteration of the main quest, claims that in Ken Rolston's original main quest, the player would have given the Amulet of Kings to Ocato instead of Jauffre, but Ocato would have been Mankar Camoran in disguise and that was how the player would lose the Amulet of Kings.

I think this makes Jauffre losing the Amulet of Kings more understandable from a writing perspective. Kuhlmann explains that it would be too cheap and out-of-the-blue for Ocato to betray the player, but if it was foreshadowed, the "decision" to give him the Amulet would be forced on the player. So, he changed it to the player handing the Amulet to Jauffre in good faith, since Jauffre is not evil and intends to keep the Amulet of Kings safe. It's just that the plot requires the bad guys to get the Amulet of Kings, so Jauffre ends up being horribly incompetent.

I know that it's been 20 years since the release of Oblivion, and Kuhlmann may just be remembering things wrong, but I opened up the Construction Set and there is some evidence that supports Ocato actually being Mankar Camoran, or being evil at the very least. Ocato has his own "Combat Style", which is unusual, considering most NPCs just use a shared default combat style, and unique combat styles are for boss NPCs like Mehrunes Dagon, Jyggalag, or Mankar Camoran. This implies that you were supposed to fight Ocato at some point.

So maybe Kuhlmann is right about the original main plot. On one hand, the High Elf chancellor who holds the same position as Jagar Tharn secretly being evil would have been incredibly predictable. Kuhlmann says he gave Mankar Camoran the motive of creating Paradise in order to make him a better villain. But if the main quest had really leaned into "evil High Elf doing evil because he's evil", maybe it would have been so over-the-top it would have been funny?

I tasked myself to draw some elves from memory featuring my gal, Amihan!! I had too much fun making this LOL

So for roleplay purposes, I decided to make killing the King of Worms something of an apotheosis moment for my character. Inspired by the story of Raistlin Majere stealing the power of Fistandantilus in the Dragonlance books, I decided to make a special spell for stealing Mannimarco’s power.
Using the Black Soul Gem that I created earlier in the Mages Guild quests, I stole not only the life, but also the soul and arcane knowledge from him. (My character hasn’t used any necromancy until this point so I’m using this as the moment to teach myself all the necromancy spells).
Using his soul, I went to the alter in my new Arch Mage’s quarters to create a most powerful artifact, the Heart of Magnus (look up Infinite Magicka glitch for details).
With this new power in hand, my attention turns once more to the Oblivion Crisis. The Heart will aid me in my fight to protect Bruma from the forces of Oblivion. Such evil power can and will be used for good, and will not corrupt me… right?

Have you been waiting for almost 10 years for a mod like Gopher's Immersive HUD - iHUD for Oblivion? Wait no longer. I can't fully enjoy Skyrim or New Vegas without iHUD, but unfortunately, Gopher never made a version for Oblivion. I searched all over the Nexus for something like it but nope, nothing. How could this gap be left? The people crave IMMERSION, so after a painstaking scripting process we finally have a solution. Immersive View. It basically works the same way iHUD does, albeit probably not put together quiet so well, as Oblivions scripting is extremely finicky, but its 100% functional and ready to add into your mod list!

I know this is Warcraft (never touched it in my life), but I was shocked at how similar it looks to the remaster.

The orcs facially look identical (just vastly more muscular and brown), the city looks like the Imperial City (plus minarets), and Lothar’s armor looks like the armor Ocato gives you.

I appreciate Oblivion even more because of it, because the remaster (with some color correction that lowers the reds) makes it look EXACTLY like this.

I love high fantasy.

This one was a little tricky compared to the other overpainting I’ve done because I needed to paint soooo much stuff from scratch including the clothes..! But I think she came out great :) I hope you like my girl! :D
