Any of you living with a Persian Mimosa tree?

A few years ago I had a neighbor that had a massive Mimosa tree in his front yard that reached up to his second floor and the spread covered his whole front yard and driveway. I loved the appearance of that tree and the lightly dappled shade underneath it. It looked like the perfect shade for growing veggies and herbs in our often severely oppressive heat here in central Texas.

Despite this, I came home from a trip to find that he had cut it down. I’m not sure why he did this because it seemed perfectly healthy. He did have to borrow my 40’ ladder every year or two to trim it back from the house, but that seemed like pretty minimal care requirements for the benefit that it provided. I’ve always wondered if there are other problems dealing with those trees than I was unaware of, like invasive roots, or suckers. We both have moved to different homes since then, and so don’t have his contact info to ask him.

Positive movies!

Movies about the greatness of humanity. Love. Caring. Inclusiveness. Family in whatever form that may take. Movies that leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling at the end.
