Why is it so hard to develop games on Reddit?

I don't get why Reddit is so restrictive about the server I am using. Obviously any multiplayer game needs a backend to send information from one player to another. How can it be that I am not allowed to use my current infrastructure for that when it is not hosted on services Reddit likes. Are you really expecting me to rewrite/rehost my whole backend only to develop games on Reddit? You realize Reddit is not the only plattform for games, right? And also not a really big player, right? Of course I won't rewrite my backend, I will just move on.

NEURON WARS — Erobere das Gehirn

Made a quiz game where the question matters less than where you ask it.

Each cell on the hex grid is a trivia category. To capture it, you answer that category's question faster than your opponent. Connected captures form clusters with bonus points — so strategy beats raw knowledge. A weaker quiz player can absolutely win with smarter geometry.

Killstreaks unlock items: multi-capture, steal-an-enemy-hex, defensive shield. 15-turn matches, async, new map every game.

Free, no install, no account, plays on mobile.

Solo dev, German UI currently (English on roadmap). Brutal feedback welcome.

[Browser] [DE] NEURON WARS — turn-based 2P trivia on a procedurally generated hex grid shaped like a brain

Game Title: NEURON WARS

Playable Link: https://www.neuron-wars.de/ (also on itch.io: https://glapps.itch.io/neuron-wars)

Platform: Browser (Desktop & Mobile)

Description:

NEURON WARS is a turn-based 2-player knowledge game where the board is a procedurally generated hex grid where each cell is a neuron. Each hex (neuron) belongs to one of 20 trivia categories — from Space to Mythology to Programming to Plant World. To capture a neuron, you answer a question from its category faster than your opponent. Wrong answers don't capture anything, even if you're faster.

The twist that makes it more than another quiz clone: connected neurons form clusters that earn bonus points. So where you attack matters more than how much you know — a weaker quiz player can absolutely win with smarter geometry. Strategic expansion in one direction beats blind clicking on scattered hexes.

Killstreaks unlock tactical items: Super-Neuron (multi-capture), Mind Control (steal an enemy hex without a duel), and Neural Shield (protect your territory on defeat). 15 turns per match, asynchronous — play at your own pace, no live slots. New random brain topology every game.

No download, no account, no in-app purchases, no pay-to-win. Open the URL and play. Currently German UI; English version on the roadmap if there's interest.
