Considering the reluctance to ever use the word “bisexual” in the text of the show, despite Buck clearly being a bisexual character, I’ve started to wonder if the show will ever clearly label Eddie’s sexuality.

Many of us suspect that Eddie is being written as either a closeted gay man, or a demisexual gay or bisexual man, but I doubt we’ll ever hear him adopt any label on the show for a couple of reasons.

First, I don’t think Eddie is going to spend a lot of time dating other people to explore his sexuality; I think his realization he’s not straight will lead quickly to a period of pining for and wanting Buck.

Second, giving Eddie a label requires revising his relationship with Shannon, and exploring how that intersects with the label. I don’t think the show wants to go back to that, so I think avoiding a definitive label gives them a reason to avoid trying to answer the question of Eddie’s sexual and romantic attraction to Shannon.

It would be a cute callback to Eddie and Buck’s “I love kids”, “I love this one” exchange if, after Eddie and Buck reveal their relationship, someone asks Eddie “Does this mean you like men now?” and he responds, looking fondly at Buck, “I love this one.”
