Python backend developer getting very few relevant interview calls, what am I doing wrong?

I’ve been applying for almost four months but am still receiving very few relevant interview calls. Even when I do get calls, the roles often do not match my actual backend experience, and the salary offered is usually the same as or only slightly higher than my last CTC.

I’m trying to understand whether the issue is my profile positioning, experience level, salary expectations, or application strategy. I’m looking for genuine advice from people familiar with the current backend hiring market.

Experience: 4+ years

Last CTC: ₹19.25 LPA

Tech stack: Python, Django, FastAPI, Flask, SQL, AWS, Docker, Redis, Celery, and working knowledge of React.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Python backend developer getting very few relevant interview calls, what am I doing wrong?

I’ve been applying for almost 4 months now, but I’m still getting very few interview calls. Even most of the calls I get are not very relevant to the work I actually do, and the salary being offered is usually the same or only slightly higher than my last CTC.

At this point, I’m honestly not sure what I’m doing wrong or how I can get more relevant interview calls. Any genuine advice from this community regarding my resume, application strategy, referrals, or companies I should target would be really helpful.

Last ctc: ₹19.25 lpa

Tech stack: Python backend—Django/FastAPI/Flask, SQL, AWS, Docker, Redis/Celery, and working knowledge of React

Any help or guidance for this is much appreciated really.

Experience: 4+ years

[For Hire] Python Backend Engineer | 4+ YOE | Django, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, AWS | India-based, open to Remote

Hi everyone,

I’m an India-based Python Backend Engineer with 4+ years of experience, currently looking for a remote full-time opportunity.

My core stack is Python, Django, FastAPI, Flask, PostgreSQL, SQL, Redis, Celery, and AWS.

I’ve worked on production backend systems involving REST APIs, backend workflows, third-party integrations, authentication, database optimization, automation, and production issue resolution.

I was recently impacted by a layoff along with around 40% of the tech team at my previous company, so I’m available to join immediately.

I’m mainly looking for:

Backend Engineer / Python Developer / Backend-focused Software Engineer

Preferred: Remote roles open to India / global remote / async-friendly teams.

Also open to India-based opportunities if relevant.

Resume:
