Why are we okay with this?

By this, I mean the data center proposal. The Liberty Utilities scandal with their billing system and the 40% rate hike at the PEAK of summer. Flock cameras being installed when NO ONE asked for it. Local law enforcement seems more concerned about harassing the homeless than anything else. The disrespect from Joplin City Council when it meets its constituents on ANY of these critical issues, while a particular council member plays on his phone like a 16 year old girl and shares ideas from a man who's a self proclaimed "theocratic fascist".The out of control drug abuse issues that's plaguing this town. The youth are fleeing this town because very few resources are thrown their way, and judging by what little I see on Facebook, everyone remaining is just miserable. Even a few local pools are closed down and many of these never-ending infrastructure projects on main roads are hurting small businesses in ways I've never seen before. Rent? Astronomical, because private equity firms have been snatching up all the single family homes.

All of this feels cynical and abusive.

These things shouldn't even be a left vs right issues, but in a sense it needs to be a personal political issue to Joplin because I can't for the life of me understand how people are sitting well with all of this. This is becoming too much.
