Investing club idea

So I've been working on this idea for a bit now and want some feedback and opinions. I used ChatGPT to draft this so bear with me and tell me what you think.

I'm looking for honest feedback on an idea I've been developing called The Table. It's still in the concept stage, so I'm looking for criticism just as much as praise. I'd rather discover flaws now than after trying to build it.

The Table is intended to be much more than an investment club. The goal is to create a long-term institution built around two equal purposes:

Building wealth through investing, business ownership, and entrepreneurship.

Building better people who, in turn, build a stronger organization.

The philosophy is simple:

"The Table takes care of the Members. The Members take care of The Table."

The organization would invest not only in financial assets, but also in its members. That could include things like paying for professional certifications (CDL, HVAC, CPA, etc.), gym memberships, trade tools, education, or even helping launch member-owned businesses. These wouldn't be viewed as "benefits," but as investments in human capital that are expected to produce a return for both the member and The Table.

The Table would also own assets directly, such as investment portfolios, rental properties, and businesses. In some cases it could invest in member-owned businesses in exchange for an equity stake or ongoing profit-sharing rather than simply issuing loans.

Membership Structure

Prospect

Not yet a member, but someone being evaluated.

Attends meetings, learns how The Table operates, and demonstrates character, reliability, and commitment.

Has no voting rights or ownership.

Motto: "Character Before Capital."

Associate

Has earned admission through a unanimous vote and a one-time buy-in.

Pays dues and actively contributes to the organization.

Can serve on committees, work in Table-owned businesses, present investment ideas, and build a track record.

Limited voting rights.

Motto: "Contribution Earns Confidence."

Partner

A full owner of The Table.

Shares in profits, has full voting rights, and can propose investments or business ventures.

Eligible to apply for funding for businesses or professional development, subject to approval.

Responsible for mentoring newer members and protecting the long-term interests of the organization.

Motto: "The Table takes care of the Members. The Members take care of The Table."

Stewards

Stewards are Partners who have been entrusted with managing the organization.

Instead of a President and Vice President, leadership is based on stewardship rather than authority.

Positions include roles such as Chief Steward, Deputy Steward, Treasurer, Secretary, Director of Investments, Director of Business Development, and Director of Member Development.

Stewards are elected for fixed terms and may be re-entrusted if they continue to earn the confidence of the Partnership.

They can also be removed before their term ends if they fail to fulfill their responsibilities.

Motto: "The Stewards do not sit at the head of The Table. They serve it."

The long-term vision is to build an organization that outlives its founders—one that continually develops capable people, creates successful businesses, acquires productive assets, and compounds both wealth and trust over generations.

I'm not looking for people to join. I'm looking for honest feedback.

What parts of this idea do you like?

What parts concern you?

What legal, financial, or governance problems do you foresee?

If you were invited to join something like this, what would make you hesitate?

What would you change before trying to make it a reality?
