[Showcase] Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag on X360 Mobile v0.6.0

Hey everyone!

Following up on the recent v0.6.0 release, I wanted to share a gameplay showcase for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Previously, titles in the Assassin's Creed franchise suffered from severe memory sync issues and thread race conditions during vector stores, causing repeatable heap corruption, loading screen hangs, and instant access violations.

Thanks to the targeted ARM64 core memory fix implemented in v0.6.0, Black Flag now cleanly passes former failure points, handles loading screen transitions, and plays smoothly in active gameplay!

Test Configuration

Device: AYN Odin 3 Ultra

Driver: StevenMZX Turnip Gen8 v34

Settings: Default emulator settings

GTA V on X360 Mobile v0.6.0 (No More Crashes & Smooth Prologue Gameplay!)

Hey everyone!

Following the release of v0.6.0, I wanted to share some raw gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto V running on the new build.

Previously, GTA V suffered from random crashes and memory/loading stalls that prevented progressing smoothly through the opening sequence. Thanks to the recent core/presenter rewrite and thread memory sync fixes in v0.6.0, the game now boots, transitions between scenes, and handles intense action/shooting sequences without crashing!

Test Configuration & Key Observations:

Device: AYN Odin 3 Ultra

Driver: StevenMZX Turnip Gen8 v34

Settings: All emulator settings set to Default

Stability: Played through the entire North Yankton Prologue heist sequence (bank vault, firefights, car escape) without encountering a single crash or freeze.

v0.6.0 Improvements: The core rewrite has solved major memory sync issues that previously plagued heavy open-world games like GTA V and the Assassin's Creed series.

You can grab the v0.6.0 APK directly from GitHub.

Let me know if you've tested GTA V on your own devices and how it performs on your setup!

[RELEASE] X360 Mobile v0.6.0 is Live!

Hey everyone!

I am excited to announce that Build 0.6.0 is officially available for download! This update represents one of the largest architectural updates to X360 Mobile so far, bringing a rebuilt core backend, improved GPU compatibility, and a huge batch of quality-of-life additions.

🔗 Download X360 Mobile v0.6.0 on GitHub

Highlights of Build 0.6.0

  • ARM64 Memory Fix (Assassin's Creed Series): Resolved a subtle thread memory sync issue that caused random heap corruption. Assassin's Creed 1, AC II, and AC IV: Black Flag now pass former crash points and boot into active gameplay!
  • Core & Presenter Rewrite: Complete backend overhaul delivering direct support for Adreno 600-series, Mali, and Xclipse GPUs, while fixing stability issues on customized Chinese ROMs (ColorOS, HyperOS, OxygenOS).
  • Dual-Install Coexistence: Build 0.6.0 uses a distinct package namespace. You can keep 0.5.3 preview installed alongside 0.6.0 on the same device to choose the optimal build per game while legacy optimizations are ported over.
  • Android Document Provider Integration: Manage, backup, and edit save files, profiles, and internal folders natively without needing root access, even on restricted Android setups.
  • New Hybrid UI & Virtual Keyboard: Revamped interface blending Metro style with classic Xbox 360 Blades navigation. Features a custom Xbox 360 virtual keyboard for character naming in RPGs using controller shortcuts.
  • Automated Compatibility Reports & Sync: Rate playability after sessions, batch-upload reports, and sync against our online database to view verified playability status directly in your library before launching.
  • Config Sharing & Touch Overhaul: Export game-specific cVar configs to share directly with friends, fine-tune touch controls with accurate layout sliders, and enjoy SDL controller vibration support.

0.6.0 - Preliminary changelog and release window

Hey everyone!

Testing on build 0.6.0 is going very smoothly. If the final test passes go as planned, 0.6.0 is targeted for release tomorrow (Friday)!

Because this is a major architectural milestone for the project, I wanted to share an expanded overview of what’s coming in this build, from core fixes and GPU support to storage management and UI overhauls.

Core Fixes & Expanded Hardware Compatibility

  • ARM64 Core Memory Fix: Resolved a subtle memory sync issue during thread updates. This eliminates random heap corruption and loading stalls, making titles in the Assassin's Creed series (AC1, AC2, AC IV: Black Flag) fully bootable into gameplay! (Some need to set occlusion_query set to strict to have proper graphics).
  • Core & Presenter Rewrite: Complete backend rewrite providing direct support for Adreno 600-series, Mali, and Xclipse GPUs, as well as fixing stability issues on customized Chinese ROMs (ColorOS, HyperOS, OxygenOS).
  • Package Name Change (Dual-Install Support): Build 0.6.0 uses a distinct package namespace. This allows you to keep 0.5.3 preview installed alongside 0.6.0 so you can pick the best build per game while optimizations are being ported over, at least until 0.6.x gets on par, performance-wise, in all games.

Storage, Front-End & System Integration

  • Android Document Provider Integration: Native Document Provider access is now live. You can browse, backup, and manage save files, profiles, and internal directories without requiring root access, even on non-rooted devices where access to /data is restricted.
  • Enhanced External Front-End Launching: Improved deep-linking and intent handling for custom launchers and external front-ends, ensuring cleaner direct-to-game boot flows.
  • Automated Compatibility Reporting: After gaming sessions, you’ll be prompted to rate playability. You can review cVars, average/min/max FPS, driver info, attach screenshots, and save reports locally or submit them to the server.
  • Cloud Manifest Sync: On library load, the app syncs against our online report database to display verified playability status for titles before you even launch them for the first time.
  • Auto-Update System: The app checks for updates at startup. You can opt into Previews/Release Candidates in settings or stick strictly to public stable releases.

UI & Quality-of-Life Improvements

  • New Hybrid Interface: Revamped UI blending the best of the Metro style with the classic Xbox 360 Blades menu, fully optimized for navigation on controllers and smaller screens.
  • Custom XAM Virtual Keyboard: Recreated the original Xbox 360 virtual keyboard directly in the UI for XAM events (naming characters in RPGs like Dragon Age or Diablo 3) using original controller shortcuts.
  • Manual Metadata & Cover Art: Verify titles to manually select and fix cover art and metadata directly on the homepage.
  • Export & Share Game Settings: Easily export and share game-specific configurations and cVars directly with friends or via socials.
  • Enhanced Touch Controls & Haptics: Fine-tuned sliders for touch button position, size, and opacity, alongside SDL controller vibration support and an experimental haptic implementation for smartphones.

Thank you all for the feedback, testing, and support as we get closer to launch. Final polishes are underway, get ready for tomorrow!
