Buzz 12v Strikes

I'm just adding a data point for future owners.

We (US) have had our 1st Ed RWD Buzz for 363 days and we woke up the other morning to the car only being charged up to ~64% and the 12v low. Got it towed to the dealership.

Thankfully, you all are VERY informative so I used prior posts and comments to figure out what was potentially the issue. The dealership attempted to say the issue was our home charger; however, I corrected them and told them to investigate the 12v and computer module.

They called and identified the computer module and rear heating element being faulty. Thank you all for your crowd sourced knowledge.

There's only one computer module in Canada and the heating element is being requested from Germany. We will manage.

Good luck to you all! We still adore our Buzz and still are excited to give tours.

Like many of you, I was plagued with service issues with my account. In particular, I was a forever 119 due to clerical issues between Mohela/FSA. Like many of you, I attempted to to work with various elected officials, ombudsman, etc. Back in November 2024, I reached out with very detailed accounts with documentation to my state senator higlighting my plight. This was provoked by their urging to hear from constituents impacted by student loans.

While I was intentionally between jobs, coincidentally at the same time SAVE dying was about to happen, I decided to swap plans so I could have a $0 payment for up to a year while FSA sorted their stuff out. I hit 120 in March of this year.

Almost one year later to the day, I received an email from an aide stating they received a response by DoED on my behalf wishing the information would be helpful. It was DoEd acknowledging that my inquiry was outstanding; however, that it is being terminated because I hit 120 and would likely see forgiveness within 60-90 days.

No congratulations, no sorry we could not help you. Just hope this information is helpful.

It has been 1 year, 6 months and 1 day since I reached out to my elected officials seeking help. Betsy and this community has been a far greater asset to me than my elected officials.

I have not received my golden letter; however, I wish to provide my deepest gratitude to this community as you all have been incredible. Good luck to everyone. I'll still be lurking.

My data points:

Total Balance = $175,224.50 ($30,301.12 outstanding interest)

  • Graduated from grad school in May 2014
  • Consolidated undergrand/grad loans in February 2015
  • Enjoyed March 2020-December 2024 $0 payments
  • Made my official last 5 payments between January - May 2024
  • My unoffical last payment was June 2024; however, last few days of the month was put into forbearance due to website transfer from mohela to fsa.mohela
  • Applied for PAYE January 2026
  • Approved with first payment due February (didn't count)
  • April 4, 2026 account updated showing green banners.
