Questions about Cross Save and Save Editor (PS5 → Steam → PS5)
Hi everyone,
I have a few questions and was hoping someone with experience using cross-save or save editors could help me out.
I currently play Borderlands 4 on PS5 and have already put over 300 hours into the game. If it's anything like Borderlands 3, I'll probably end up playing hundreds (or even thousands) more once the final level cap is released.
I'm thinking about buying the game on Steam later on when it's on sale, mainly so I can use a save editor.
My goal isn't to create modded gear or anything like that. I simply want to do what I used to do in Borderlands 3: duplicate my characters so I can have multiple builds without having to level new ones from scratch or having to do secondary mission again (i'm already at 5 time each and in september will be 6).
Right now I have:
- 2 level 60 characters with meta builds.
- 3 level 50 characters with meta builds for the previous level cap that will be soon updated.
I'd just like to duplicate them so I can experiment with different builds.
Here are my questions:
- How exactly does cross-save work? Can I upload my save from PS5 to PC, edit it with a save editor, and then upload it back to PS5? Has anyone actually tried this? Are there any checks or restrictions when moving saves between platforms?
- How much of the PC version do I actually need to run? Is simply owning the game on Steam enough, or do I need to launch it? If I do, how far do I need to get before I can sync my saves? My laptop is a few years old and I don't think it can run the game very well. I've attached my specs.
- I own the Super Deluxe Edition with all the DLC on PS5. Would I need to buy the same edition on Steam, or would the base game be enough for cross-save and save editing?
- Is there any other restriction i'm not thinking about?
Thanks in advance for any help!
