7B(irthday)G complete 🎂

First of all, this clip is nothing more than a display of what true fear looks like 😂 I am proud to say that the first time I cleared flag 3, I got it. BUT OH BROTHER, FLAG 13 WAS EVIL! I got this after 4400 deaths.

I enjoyed this golden a lot. It didn't feel as long as many other chapters since each room/checkpoint was reasonably difficult and could be done consistently with enough practice. Most importantly, every room felt "fair". Yes, before you tell me bumpers, lava blocks, and feathers are fair and to git gud, I still hate them, and I loved that I saw none of them in 7B.

I will probably chill out on this game for a bit due to life things, and I really wanted 201 before I turn 30 in a few days :3 I know I'll have the hunger to get FWG at some point, so until then, I'll be lurking this sub for all your lovely posts and failed golden clips <3

8BG made my fingers hurt 🥰

It was tough remembering 37 different facts about every room to survive, I still kinda enjoyed it though. The hardest room to get consistent was room 7 (a-04), and not even 100%, maybe 80% of the time. That was only by around 4000 deaths...

I had 5049 deaths total, more than my first farewell clear 😮‍💨 "Be proud of your death count" they said, I'm real glad they said it 💀

Why is 8BG so hard

Goddamn, I'm at 4500 deaths on this level, the most I've had by a lot! I still like it a lot more than 6BG since it feels more precise and consistent, but the precision needed feels kinda crazy...I grinded it for a while the past 2-3 days and I thought i'd have enough muscle memory, but WOW it's like I have 1GB worth of muscle memory and this requires 2GB. I have every cycle down, but I usually take an L to either a bumper (as usual), lava block, or mis-timed conveyer belt jump. Best death count for the whole level is 2 right now.

I had a run where I was on the 2nd last room and mis-timed the lava block 😢 that was 500 deaths ago. Tragedy. Here's to hoping I get it shortly after posting this.

6BG, no words

Everything was covered in my last post lol... This might be the world record for death count (3920)? My record run was 6:53 but for this run I took many breathing/water breaks and paused to say the room strategy out loud 3 times 🙃

Another thing I found was that room 15 (b-07) CONSISTENTLY froze for a random moment and I had to learn to play around that T_T Not sure why, I'm on switch and I moved the game to system memory, hard reset, still happened.

Thanks for those who gave encouragement 💪

6B room 5 (a-04) can burn in hell

This is a RANT post. I'm doing 6BG and the stupid bullshit ass bumpers in this room are driving me up a wall. I know about bumper boosting, I've normalized my inputs for when I enter this room, I memorized the cycles for each individual bumper, I have visual and timing cues for each step, and I memorized the first 50 prime numbers. But I can't do it multiple times in a row, and it always ruins my rhythm on a golden run if I die here but make it later. I've done the 2nd section (reflection) to the end deathless a few times already but getting past this makes me choke.

I know it's not a hard room per se, it's just not one I can do consistently even after 3500 deaths on this level, which I expect to be able to my now. I've never been this inconsistent on any room in this game. If you played hollow knight, there are "hard" bosses I can do hitless 10x in a row no sweat like PV or NKG, but oblobbles? markoth? marmu? YEAH BRO THIS ROOM IS MARMU.

Goddamn I hate bumpers so much in this game. I'm real close to giving up and trying 8BG or 7BG. Yes I need to git gud, but I also needed to get this off my chest.

"Step on me mommy" - the seekers in 5BG, probably

It was fun, and by fun I mean I hated it at first but once I started consistently stomping those flying goldfish mf's it got a lot easier. Hell trio here I come 😈

7AG thanks to the joycon's D-pad

I'm not going to bore you with another clip of the last 2 free flags of 7A. I just want to thank the lovely people who recommended I try using the Joycon's D-pad in my last post (instead of the pro controller analog stick). It took a few hours to get used to but it was so worth it. My misinputs are pretty much 0 and I'm enjoying this game so much more! I pray for your thriving and success 🙏❤️

"⬆️? Nah I'd ↖️" - my analog stick

Guess I used up all my input luck by the time I got to 7AG flag 12 :) I ain't even mad, it's the furthest I got. Yes a clip would show this better but I was too busy thinking of a witty caption.

4BG was so much fun

I used to hate the wind but now it's become my favourite level in the game (so far). Where other levels like 3B needed good timing, I liked that this needed good precision or micro movements, like on teeny weenie blocks or platforms :3 1326 deaths on this one

3BG: Goodbye, Absolute Oshiro

The last wall jump in the 2nd last room should have killed me, and I definitely DID NOT grab the 2nd key in the last room. I was blessed on this day after 3001 deaths to this level 💀

127 hours and 27k deaths, very proud of this and still having fun. While I do think keyboard would be a superior experience for this precise game, I am misinputting on my pro controller way less often lately 😇 I have 6-7A and 4-8B left.

3AG while shaking in my boots

I was traumatized by dying at the VERY LAST jump before the end of the last room at least 3x 😭 Oshiro-san felt like radiant markoth by this attempt lmao. The clip is extremely boring for these reasons, thank you.

The only thing keeping me going was the banger of a track "scattered and lost" 🔥 NO idea how I'm gonna get the golden for something as long as 7A bruh

All bindings zote

I haven't done all bindings p5 yet so I will probably complain again once I get there. I've already done p4 all bindings and it was way easier than all bindings zote in p3 😭 I've also done it 3 bindings easily but why do I struggle so much with that 4th soul binding?

I've read many similar reddit posts and watched a fair share of videos on how to beat it so I know it's just more practice... The theory looks simple but damn... what a difference it makes when his zotelings take 2 hits. They're always so far out of reach after the first hit, and I'd rather save some soul for d darks for his random BS than shriek (and when they armor my shriek, I get sad).

I'm also trying to get better at cyclone slashing him to make the fight end faster but I feel like I'm always gambling when I do it, like he might hit me with something too quick after even if I don't mash attack :(

I know about the mods on PC to practice all bindings but I'm on switch / don't have a PC. Please send git guds my way 🙏

2nd play through

Just finished my 2nd play through of this game. I loved it just as much as the 1st time. Exploring every place is such a vibe, yes even deepnest. Next time I might try Steel soul mode bc I didn't die to any boss, except for flukemarm (not enough needle upgrades) and those screaming spawns in the royal waterways, and yes to primal aspid. I did all trials and pantheons first try tho :3 It still took around 25 hours to 112% / p5 / PoP since I forgot some things but I think maybe I can get it under 20 next time.

I managed to save the nail Smith this time because on my first play through I accidentally smacked him to see what would happen. Very happy I did! BUT WHY COULDN'T I SAVE CLOTH? I CAN'T BELIEVE TRAITOR LORD KILLED HIM WTF.

I sat in the Marissa room listening to her sing for like 30 minutes while I just chilled in my room. I did delicate flower quest and failed the first try because of a spike 1 centimeter from the traitor daughter's grave.

So one thing I realized is that the Grey mourner is a lady with a white face, with her arms together in front of her, covered by long sleeves or something. I swear in my first play through I thought her face was her nose, and her arms were like a dog/cat where the two long sleeves in front of her were part of her mouth, you know like this :3? So I thought her mouth/lips were like half her body. LMFAO

How many hours did 202 🍓 take you?

I told myself I wouldn't do any golden strawberries, that I'll put this game down. I went to the next game in my list and hated it so I came back lol (return of the obra dinn).

1ag was obviously the gateway drug. 1a dashless was hard but SO COOL. I've done 5 others so far and the euphoria I get when completing it outdoes the countless struggles along the way.

I have 66 hours and 183 🍓 and I'm wondering how many did 202 take you? Did you enjoy it? Is it doable in 200ish hours?

I ask because the last time I did a similar challenge was getting all radiant bosses in hollow knight godhome and will never forget that satisfaction! But I also don't know if I have it in me if the figure here is more like 500 hours.

GG!

What a beautiful game! The mechanics, music and art were a joy to experience. My favourite part was how it felt like the devs want you to succeed and do everything to can to not torture you (I recently played silksong and felt the opposite lmao).

Reasonable checkpoints, the option to save & quit to come back to the same room (which helped a lot in farewell), quick death/loading screens, and options to skip cutscenes were all huge. I loved seeing Bakima comforting Makima in farewell, it really felt like they were sisters. I also like how all the characters are made to be very likeable.

I tried my best to get crystal hearts, puzzles and strawberries without looking things up but I eventually did since I honestly didn't care for that part as much as the main levels, which I'm happy I didn't look up anything for. For me the hardest levels were 5b, 7c, and the room at the end of farewell determination with the Kevin block. 8c was annoying because I hate bumpers and lava blocks.

Will I go for golden strawberries? I probably won't grind them out like I did this game the last 2 weeks but I'm down to try some of them since I enjoy that type of challenge. Although I might try it using the D pad instead bc I want to say at least 5k of my deaths were analog stick misinputs 😭

I played it on the Switch, and used these controls: analog stick, L jump, ZL grab, ZR dash. GG!
