Two years with a cargo bike - reduced my driving by 90%
I just wanted to come and say thank you to the members of this sub that helped me jump from being a 90% car user to 10%. About 3 years ago I got my first ebike, based largely on aspiration to get a cargo bike. The usual suspects on YouTube opened my eyes to cycling as a genuine option, but it was here that I grew the confidence to begin discussing the change with my wife, and actually planning it.
Nearly two years ago now I purchased my first cargo bike, Benno Boost Evo 4 longtail. Thank you thank you thank you to all the people who suggested a longtail would be better for my area. It 100% is.
Today, my transit profile looks more like 10-15% car, 10-15% public transit, and 70-80% bike commuting. Half my cycling is done with two kids on the back. I've totaled 3500 km (it's a fairly short commute as we also moved house to be close to work, school and daycare).
With everything that's going on in the world it can be easy to lose perspective, but getting out on the bike with the kids is genuinely a pillar holding up a huge part of my mental health and Wellbeing. I thank the lot of you for being part of the cummunity that I feel enabled me to do this.
Happy riding my friends! We will set the trend for the next century. I'm sure of it.
