Rival fanbases grasping as straws

This “Wemby stopper” narrative about Mara is really dumb IMO. I knew just by looking at his profile that he wasn’t really the archetype to clamp down on Wemby for 48 minutes and it all goes back to that guy saying we drafted him “because of Wemby” on draft night, which… no.

With the addition of Mara, what does Sorber’s role become on this team?

Although I’ve seen a lot of talk about sliding Sorber to the 4 I just don’t know if he works there. We have a loaded center room but are rather short on forwards. Playing Sorber at the 4 is just a waste of his skill set unless you’re playing Chet at the 5. Playing him at the 4 with Mara or Hart, as you could imagine, would completely screw our spacing unless he’s been developing his shot like crazy. I really only see him playing when Chet’s on the floor or when he’s the only big on the floor, which makes him rather situational.

Do we foresee any possible trades

Please don’t take my head, I know a lot of people here hate when people so much as suggest a trade. I’m not suggesting, to be fair, I’m just wondering.

Any possibility OKC uses Dort, maybe another player, and some picks to trade for a true wing? I really did kind of expect us to at least swing at one in the draft and was kind of surprised when they didn‘t. Of course I hope I’m proven wrong, something Presti is good at, and all of them turn out to have meaningful impact.

Still, I’m kind of surprised considering probably the most widely documented weakness of this team is the lack of traditional size at the wing. I wouldn’t think adding just one would ruin Daig’s whole scheme.

I hope they don’t get Mara

Lots of discussion from so called insiders about OKC potentially drafting Mara. Legit or not, I’d really hate us getting him. He seems like a panic pick just to match up with Wemby, which in my opinion, he would get cooked against him because he’s a traditional, slow moving rim protector. I understand Presti loves guys who can pass but I think Hart fills that role pretty well. If you look at his numbers he probably wouldn’t be as impactful on boards as expected either. For his size, his numbers weren’t elite in college. he probably has more stretch potential than Hart but he’d probably still be a “dared to shoot” player.

NBA Draft: Underrated Prospects?

Really the main guys I’ve been expecting the Thunder to draft are Morez and/or Yax, as these are probably the most common names linked to OKC right now. I’ve heard Mara too but honestly he just seems overhyped to me. Any other prospects y‘all have in mind?

Morez > Yax?

IMO looking at Morez’s tape he blew me away. He has insane athleticism and agility for his size and an incredible study frame. High motor crashing boards and a 39 inch vertical as well as being a legitimate stretch 4. I really wouldn’t hate if we stayed at 12 and took him over Yax. I think he’d have immediate impact year 1.

Who do you want OKC to take in the draft?

I honestly really hate the idea of getting Mara but I’ve heard it’s a popular opinion. Trading up into the top 4 has been discussed but a lot think it’s unrealistic given the price. I honestly would be happy with Yax even if he’s going to be an almost 25 year old rookie, we just need that level of physicality to stop giving up so many offensive boards and become a good rebounding team.

See what happens when you have a physical big who can play up on Wemby all game

I know it’s only the half but Wemby not having a great start, shooting poor and not getting boards. Please Presti get Yax or even Wilson in the draft if you’re feeling crazy

Excited to see what Sorber can do

He‘s almost like a JWill-Hartenstein hybrid IMO. Can be a high-post hub and can fight down low for rebounds. I’m pretty sure he’s the heaviest player on our roster. One thing I hope is that hes been developing his three point shot. If we can have a Hartenstein type player who can stretch the floor that would be massive. I don’t expect him to ever be a lethal three point shooter but having the ability to hit them even at an Evan Mobley like rate would be good enough.

If you’re watching this series and all you have is complaints, stop watching basketball.

This has easily already been one of the most exciting series in the past decade. This is the first time since the ’90s that you’re getting to watch two of the very best teams, with 62+ wins, go at it in their own conference finals. What I’m tired of is the fact that every OKC loss was fairly called and “liberating,” but every OKC win is “rigged,” “dirty,” whatever.

If you can’t enjoy basketball without being miserable, without instantly heading to Reddit to post your little anti-Thunder clips and complaining, you shouldn’t watch the series. Luckily for us, people like these are, thankfully, the minority of basketball fans at the moment, although they are unfortunately spreading fast.

That being said, you should avoid echo chambers like this and just enjoy elite basketball. Eras like this don’t come around often. Fuck off if the sole reason you’re watching this is to complain or get clips for internet points.

I hope NBA fans realize

If the Spurs end up beating the big, bad, terrible, unethical, dirty, dangerous, violent, villainous Thunder in this series and save everyone from a dynasty that they’ll be dealing with an even worse dynasty? How long until then do the Spurs become the new Thunder? Obviously there’s no point in trying to reason because what matters is the present and unfortunately the Thunder are the most hated team in the present.

What is the game plan

first of all thank god for Caruso because this game would be over already if it weren’t from him. Aside from that wtf is this game plan and wtf is this effort? Shai looks damn near unplayable with the shot selection and passiveness. Chet and Ajay look really passive rn. Just dumb and risky moves all around. Spurs didn’t play a great half but it feels like intentionally played to their level?

It's strange

I usually avoid general media like r/nba or those clip channels on YouTube, but when I heard Wemby got ejected, I had to look. Yes, a majority of people do agree it's just a dirty move, no way around it, but it's weird that a lot of people are laughing about it or even praising him? Imagine if Dort or really any Thunder player did that. Nobody would laugh and you'd probably have people calling for his head both metaphorically and literally.

Is there a world where Presti decides to trade up

At the 12th pick we would probably get Yax, but it basically comes down to does OKC want to secure a dynasty now or are they fine keeping their haul (and players) for the future.

I'm excited as fuck about the draft lottery

Just the thought that there's even a chance we can cause every form of NBA media and fan media to explode on May 10th is frankly, exhilarating.
