Crypto or Cash — What Would You Do?
I'm 20 years old trying to figure out the smartest move with my money right now, and I genuinely don't know which direction to go.
Here's my situation: I currently have about $3,000 invested in crypto and I'm already down nearly $1,000 just from Solana alone. On top of that, I've got around $5,000 sitting in cash. So all together I'm working with roughly $8,000, and I'm at a crossroads.
Part of me wants to go all in — either double down on crypto or throw everything into the stock market and let it ride. But then the other part of me thinks, is that just gambling at that point? I'm 20, I don't have a ton of financial cushion, and one bad move could set me back in a real way.
Cash feels safe. It's always there, it doesn't drop 30% overnight, and there's something genuinely comforting about knowing exactly what you have. But at the same time, I know cash sitting still is slowly losing value to inflation, so that's not really a "do nothing" option either.
I'm not trying to get rich overnight — I just want to be smart about this while I'm young and actually have time on my side. Do I cut my losses in crypto and move on? Hold and hope Solana recovers? Diversify into index funds? Keep a cash safety net and invest the rest?
I'd really appreciate some real perspectives from people who've been in a similar spot. What would you do?
