Hey guys, I can’t seem to find a better bike at the $3000-3500 range than the Caledonia 105. Would you all agree? Am I missing anything big by not jumping to $4500 that I can’t eventually upgrade the Caledonia to later (looking at you, carbon wheels)

For sizing I just wanted to double check since I have no local access.. I’m 186cm with a roughly 86cm inseam. I thought I was for sure a 58cm then, but reading more on this sub some opted for the 56. Any advice is helpful!

Spelling it out when the answer is simple always makes it sound not too deep…

But let’s suspend belief for a second and make some assumptions.

Let’s say EVERY religion is right in a sense (it doesn’t matter which one) and understand that consciousness or experience can live in spiritual realms, afterlives, other dimensions, etc.

Let’s also say aliens are real (conspiracy theorists punching air right now) or just that there is another life form out there that has conscious experience.

Let’s finally say that the AI bros WILL figure out machine sentience aka consciousness.

Where does that leave us? That mankind’s attempt to “figure out” what being human IS by looking inward is TECHNICALLY correct, in that we will understand the answer once we go inward, but it does not contain THE defining characteristic of what being human is.

This is where saying it out loud sounds silly and loses its potency but I want to share it with you. Drum roll…

It leaves us with this - “what does it mean to be human?” It means living as a human!! Our senses packaged into a physical flesh body. THAT is the human experience and what makes humans uniquely human. It seems so on the nose. I truly think that’s why being present is so important - enjoying that sip of coffee IS being human. Caring for your body and keeping it fit so you can use it IS being human. It’s why you can make a funny face at a baby and they’ll giggle. It’s that experience.

Tomorrow I start my journey into being apart of this club! As someone in the Midwest US I’m very excited to “stick it to the system” and see what’s possible when you put your mind to something. Although I’m very fortunate my city did invest in some bike paths so my commute will be 85% paved trail and 15% neighborhoods. I only have one major road to cross!
