Went to a skatepark for the first time

I went to the new skatepark in my city that for months I was too scared and embarrassed to go.

After arriving, I saw these skaters absolutely shredding and I wondered to myself if I really should be here. But then I saw these skaters, looking closer to my age if not older, not beginners but I don't feel too out of place anymore. The park also has a strict helmet policy which for me is really great as i have my own helmet and have seen online about the negative publicity for wearing them.

At first I was just looking around and I saw a vertical ramp. It's a huge ramp. Overconfident in myself, I tried going down it. And oh boy was that just the most terrible decision on my part. The board felt like it went mach 5 and my life flashed before my eyes. Good thing I only suffered light scrapes on my knee and elbow.

I made the decision to just skate small ramps and make my way up to bigger ones and hopefully eventually, the bowl.

During the rest of my session, I just skated this small ramp onto a ledge onto another ramp, practicing how to skate down with my non-dominant leg. But it did give me a goal and a fear to conquer which I really love about skating, it makes me conquer my fears.

My skatepark session turned out to be a lot of fun

How about you guys, what challenges do you hope to conquer in skating? I have A LOT
