Bigger Boards?

Like the vast majority of people here, I'm someone who skated as a kid and now that one of my boys is interested I'm relearning all this from over 20 years ago so we can skate together.

We don't have much in the way of skateparks so vert skating is kind of out. I have a 8.25 board with 149mm trucks and bigger wheels. I'm finding it hard as a 6ft tall size 12 dude to find good footing in the board. I feel like Ronald McDonald trying to do any simple trick.

What's up with these bigger popsicle decks or some of the Heroin egg decks? Most of our skating is street skating. Any one finding it easier to ride some of the bigger options out there?

Pic of a slappy 50 50 for attention.

Should i just give up on skateboarding

Ive never done an ollie where my board didnt rotate. In the last year. I just always land on my heels on my front foot and immediatly they touch the ground and i fall off. In this clip my front foot doesnt even end up that far forwards. I think my body and my movements just arent made for skateboarding. I hate that fact, i wouldve loved to be able to skateboard and send stuff. Instead i grt this bs, after a year of suffering due to this problem i feel defeated.

Deck size help

I’ve got wide feet and wear size 11.5 and I’m tall. I’ve been learning on an 8 in by 31 in deck. I’m gonna buy a new setup once I think I’m ready but I don’t know what size deck I should pick. I want it to be good for both transition and tricks

I can’t Ollie please help me

I’ve been at it for almost an entire month, done the SkateIQ 7 day Ollie program, and practice nearly everyday for at least 30 mins and I can’t do it. I feel like I’m not making any progress even tho I’m out there in 80+ degree weather all the time trying to do it. Either I can’t get enough pop or my front foot doesn’t move or something else goes wrong. I can skate normally just fine, I can pop the nose and tail to get over cracks, I can kick turn but I can’t for the life of me Ollie. It’s really frustrating. Ok rant over lol

Safety

Hey all, brand new to skating and some of the guys I met at the skatepark said I needed to buy a motorized helmet if I’m new to skating. Any good brands?? Thanks for any help.

Best complete skateboard for £110 UK beginner?

Hello! I've posted here before when my budget was around £50–74, but now I have £110 total budget (including shipping).

I'm in the UK, and I've checked all the nearest skate shops. The closest one is over 2 hours away and mainly operates online with pop-up events. They don't sell completes, only individual parts, and it's the same with other decent skate shops near me.

I’ve already checked Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and Vinted, but everything nearby is either overpriced or in poor condition.

I'm a complete beginner and just want to start skating. I'm looking for a standard popsicle complete skateboard for learning basics. I’ll mainly be skating street n flat ground and eventually at the nearest skatepark.

My shoe size is UK 7.5.

I’ve seen some completes on Route One, but I’m not sure how reliable they are or if there are better UK websites I should look at.

What would you recommend

If there is one thing I could change about my skate lore bro

I've been skating street strictly for about 1.5 years now. Initially when I first started skating I thought it made sense to go to a park(s) and learn there. Obviously this is going to be different for everyone but looking back in hindsight I've realised that it actually held me back in many ways (ultimately it was me but you get what I mean). I met lifelong friends, learned and experienced many things but something wasn't clicking with park skating or the scene in general. So I started hitting downtown and saw instant improvement and haven't looked back, It's been nothing but freedom tbh. I'm saying this because I've seen people give up early or really struggle in certain environments. If you're new try a bunch of shit, explore your map more etc something will eventually click but don't be stagnate, do things for you and aim for improvement!

Skateboard recomendation

Hi I'm thinking of buying skateboard and I'm not sure exactly what skateboard. I was only surfskating a little before so I'm total newbie. Can you please recommend me some skateboards good for beginners but not only for beginners?

Bending knees (adding more pressure to the board) drastically slows my speed.

Been trying to ollie recently and I can do it while stationary, but when I try it while moving my speed just drops to 0 before I can even do a hippie jump. Thought maybe I am doing something wrong or I could loosen my wheels a little? any tips would be great.

Went to a skatepark for the first time

I went to the new skatepark in my city that for months I was too scared and embarrassed to go.

After arriving, I saw these skaters absolutely shredding and I wondered to myself if I really should be here. But then I saw these skaters, looking closer to my age if not older, not beginners but I don't feel too out of place anymore. The park also has a strict helmet policy which for me is really great as i have my own helmet and have seen online about the negative publicity for wearing them.

At first I was just looking around and I saw a vertical ramp. It's a huge ramp. Overconfident in myself, I tried going down it. And oh boy was that just the most terrible decision on my part. The board felt like it went mach 5 and my life flashed before my eyes. Good thing I only suffered light scrapes on my knee and elbow.

I made the decision to just skate small ramps and make my way up to bigger ones and hopefully eventually, the bowl.

During the rest of my session, I just skated this small ramp onto a ledge onto another ramp, practicing how to skate down with my non-dominant leg. But it did give me a goal and a fear to conquer which I really love about skating, it makes me conquer my fears.

My skatepark session turned out to be a lot of fun

How about you guys, what challenges do you hope to conquer in skating? I have A LOT
