It started out as just the top right cicada, for fun. Ending up into this when I came across some bio-archive online with all kinds of science papers, including very old scanned in books on cicada. The bugs are drawn with Bruynzeel simple pens. The paper and desk are drawn using Derwent chromaflow.
It took me about 60 - 80 hours.

During cleaning a shelf, of course the lego I had standing there fell down into its respective bazillion pieces. So instead of rebuilding, I worked for several hours on this guy. Meet, as the kids dubbed him: Hermy.
I worked on the shell first and decided on the body from there... As the shell is weighty.
In 2025 I rekindled myself with drawing and this was one of my first own compositions that I'm really proud of. A lambskull the size of only the palm of my hand and some plastic flowers I had around (of which I made a composition & picture) . I really tried to challenge myself on a few things:only using my colour pensil set and get the plastic feel of the flowers across.
