First new car purchase: Dealer wants to drive the car 120+ km before Delivery. is it normal?
My friend is taking delivery of a new Kia Seltos on 17th July, and we'd appreciate some advice.
Today, the dealership informed her that the car allotted to her is currently at one of their other showrooms, approximately 120 km away. They said one of their staff members will drive the car from that showroom to the delivery showroom, where they'll complete the pre-delivery checks and prepare it for handover.
From what I've read on Team-BHP and other forums, it's generally recommended to perform the PDI before the car is driven, and many people suggest the odometer should ideally be under 100 km at delivery.
So I have a few questions:
- Is it normal for dealerships to drive a brand-new car 120 km to another showroom instead of transporting it on a flatbed/trailer?
- If the car arrives with 120–150 km on the odometer because of this transfer, should we still accept delivery?
- what to do?
This is her first car purchase, so i just want to make sure she's doing everything right. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
