Anyone here disabled the 80/120 km/h warning on a Mercedes GLC43 AMG? Worth it or risky?

I have a 2020 Mercedes AMG GLC43 and I’m honestly getting annoyed with the 80 and especially the 120 km/h warning beep. I talked to a guy online who said he can code it out remotely for around ₹35k, but a local German car workshop in Ludhiana advised against it after checking deeper into the Mercedes system.

They told me it can potentially create issues with OEM ECU coding/authentication, STAR diagnostics, future dealership visits, and maybe even insurance claims if something major happens. Another guy says it’s completely safe and many people already do it.

Now I’m confused whether this is a normal coding job or something that can actually mess with the car long-term.

Has anyone here actually done this on a newer Mercedes/AMG? Any real-world issues later? Did Mercedes detect it during service? Also what’s the realistic price for this kind of coding in India?

Would appreciate genuine advice from people who’ve actually experienced this instead of just sellers/coders.

Suggestions/Guidance

I am first time car buyer. Learning rn, And we are looking for a good car for around 10-11, What i shortlisted till now is Amaze VX CVT, Sonet HTK (O) 7DCT, usage will be less cause i am in metropolitan city so two wheeler makes more sense. under 40km and occasional highway experience

Amaze: 10.20 L (on road with tax + everything) 3+2 here too (1.2L)

Sonet: 11.17 L (On road with tax + everything) it giving 5 years unlimited km warranty (1.0 L turbo TGDI)

I really liked Sonet Interior and it's colour scheme, but amaze interior wasn't very appealing in short amaze was giving me commercial feel but sonet was like personal vehicle feel

What are your views and suggestions. Would appreciate your guidance!

any other you wanna suggest?

Why is there no good online space for Indian car enthusiasts? (Not CarWale, not Facebook groups)

Been a car guy for a while and I genuinely can't find a decent place online to talk about cars with other Indians.

Team-BHP is great but feels like it's stuck in 2005. Facebook groups are full of spam and "bhai konsi car loon" posts every single day. CarWale is just listings. Reddit is decent but very basic.

What I actually want is a place to find local car meets near me, buy and sell OEM parts without getting scammed, talk about mods, find road trip buddies, and connect with people who own the same car as me.

Does something like this exist and I'm missing it? And if it doesn't, would you actually use it if someone built it?

Drop what you wish existed in the comments.

Need suggestion, Car to buy below 10L

Hi guys, I want to buy an automatic car. Below 10L with good mileage and safety. Basically I’m from bangalore only city usage on occasions( weekends) since I do wfh.

I’ve researched and came up with
- baleno zeta AMT (no safety)
- tata punch.ev (ev since petrol variant mileage is low). Honda Amaze cvt ( high maintenance )

All these have plus and minuses, got confused going through these forums.

I need suggestions on these or if there is any other car I can look into?

Can Acko RSA impose unmentioned “basement drop charges” during roadside assistance?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding an issue with my car insurance/RSA coverage from Acko.

I have an Acko car insurance policy with an add-on called “Extra Car Protect Lite”. The policy wording says:

> “This add-on offers coverage for key loss, reimbursement for accommodation during outstation repairs, and roadside assistance up to 40 km in case of car breakdown. Refer to the policy document for more details.”

Last night around 1 AM, my car broke down and I availed their roadside assistance service. Since it was very late at night and most service centres would have been closed, I did not want to leave the vehicle unattended or take any unnecessary risk, so I requested that the car be dropped at my residence instead.

The tow truck driver brought the vehicle to my residential society (a high-rise apartment complex), but then refused to drop the vehicle into the basement parking unless I paid an additional ₹2500 as “basement drop charges”.

I immediately contacted Acko support, and initially they also said they could not help and that I would have to pay. After a lot of back-and-forth, one representative told me to pay for now and said he would “try his best” to get it reimbursed later.

However, this morning I received another call saying they would not reimburse it and that basement drop is an “exception case” which they do not cover. The issue is that nowhere in the policy wording or exclusions is it mentioned that basement delivery/drop is excluded from RSA coverage.

I also want to clarify that they clearly mentioned that dropping the car at my residence itself was being done as an exception instead of directly taking it to the service centre, and that if the car later needed to be moved from my residence to a service centre, I would have to bear that cost myself. I was completely okay with both of those points.

My concern is specifically about the sudden ₹2500 basement drop charge, which was never communicated beforehand and is not mentioned anywhere in the policy exclusions or RSA terms.

So I wanted to understand:

- Does this amount to deficiency of service or unfair practice?
- Since this relates to an RSA add-on/service rather than direct accident insurance, would IRDAI still be the correct authority to escalate this to?
- Should I approach the consumer forum instead?
- Are there any other grievance redressal options available in such cases?

Would really appreciate any guidance or suggestions from people familiar with insurance/legal matters.

TIA!

Policy doc wordings:

  1. Towing service in both accidental & non accidental events (electrical or mechanical failures), To the nearest brand authorized or Acko Preferred workshop whichever is applicable up to 40 kms only. Post 40 kms the customer has to bear the charges.
    a. Roadside repair services for vehicle breakdown events mentioned below
    i. Battery Jumpstart
ii. Flat Tyre assistance (change of tyre if stepney is available)
ili. Fuel delivery up to 5 litres once in a year (fuel cost will be borne by user) iv. Key locked assistance
    v. Taxi arrangement (fare charges will be borne by user)
In the event of the Insured Vehicle being immobilized due to a breakdown/accident outside the 100 kilometers radius of the insured's city of residence, Acko will cover the overnight stay expenses (up to Rs 6500.0) during the policy period
Protects you from the cost (max. Rs.7000.0) incurred towards replacing your Vehicle's key if the key is lost, stolen or damaged, or repairing the lock-set, if the lock-set or key is damaged.

Buy petrol car (XUV 7X0) now or wait for E20/E85/E100 compliance? Confused buyer

Planning to book the XUV700 MX petrol base variant. That’s all my budget allows right now and family also liked the new suspension system.

But with ethanol blending moving from E20 toward E85/E100 in coming years, I’m worried:

  1. Is the current 2.0L mStallion petrol E20 compliant? What about future E85/E100?
  2. Will I face engine issues or expensive retrofits down the line if norms change?
  3. Resale hit after 7-8 years if it’s not future-ready?

I can’t stretch budget for higher variants or wait 2+ years. Daily running is low, mostly city + occasional highway. Plan to keep it long term.

Owners/industry folks - should I go ahead with MX petrol now or go with diesel, or is waiting smarter? Anyone checked with Mahindra on future fuel roadmap?

Rejected a car twice for sports bikes… now I’m still on an Activa in 5th sem 💀 Need advice

I’m 19, 6’5, pursuing BTech CSE AI/ML from Gandhinagar and currently commuting to college on an Activa 3G 😭

Honestly this whole situation is mostly because of my own personality.

2 years back dad asked me to get a small preloved car like a Nissan Micra etc for daily commute. I rejected it.

Then around a year later he literally said:

“Okay then get a brand new car.”

And I STILL rejected it because at that time I was fully obsessed with sports bikes.

But dad has always been super strict about bike safety. The only bike he was okay with was a Royal Enfield Meteor, and I never wanted an RE. I liked Kawasaki/Benelli type bikes which was an instant no from him.

So now years later I’m still going to college on an Activa 3G while being 6’5 😂

The thing is, I have this weird all-in/all-out mindset.

Either:

stay super humble and so polite, use broken phone, dress simple, Go everywhere on Activa, act broke

OR

Suddenly go full “fck u mny” flex so damn hard i can't be competed

No in-between. Somehow☠️

Current situation:

Dad drives a 2016 i20 Magna with 201k kms and plans to upgrade to a Jeep Compass Model S O2 soon.

Now I’m considering for myself:

Hyundai Creta 2019 SX Optional Petrol Automatic 65k kms driven sliver

Or

Hyundai Elantra 2018-19 for maybe similar rate as of creta & blue color

My daily commute would be 50-60kms including 20km and 40km roundabout uni and fun iykyk😉

Also I’m about to enter 5th sem, so literally only 4 semesters are left in this uni — and probably in this country too if things go as planned later.

Mom says:

Better not buy u have gone to college and diploma in buses and activa prefer to go to activa for these years too it'll pass and my ego hurts tbh that time.

Like I survived most college life already on changing amts buses, to activa ☠️

Me and dad also have ego clashes constantly like literally every talk we have consists of my ego👹

so convincing would be hard asf

What would you guys advice me

Continue with Activa for the remaining college life or finally move to a cars?

2 years left of this uni and hopefully in this country too.

Hehee don't advice royal enfield i absolutely have nice words for anyone advicing me for re!👺

Please provide advice as if you're advicing your smaller bro (not in height)🤣 if any alternative choice feel free to let me know.🙏

Creta EX O Summer Edition 1.5 iVT reviews and price analysis

Hey Guys, this is what dealer breakdown looks like for creta in Lucknow and after exchange of our old skoda yeti, they can give the car for 15.5 lakhs. Are there any other discounts we can get and is it a good buy.

Please provide your inputs.

Grand Vitara Discounts

Just saw this banner inside one of the showrooms last night. Anyone aware about such discounts on Grnad Vitara? I'm exploring the Sigma and Dleta variants currently. If someone has bought it recently, what were the discounts offered to you?

₹15-16L | First Automatic | Motion Sickness is the #1 Priority

Girlfriend gets motion sickness easily. Need a smooth, comfortable automatic for Kerala roads. Performance doesn't matter.

Loved the Citroën Basalt AT — amazing suspension and ride. But:

· ₹17.5L on-road feels overpriced for missing features

· Heard spare parts take ages (imported)

· Limited service network worries me as a first-time owner

Current shortlist:

· MG Astor Select CVT

· Mahindra XUV 3XO REVX Automatic

· Citroën Basalt AT (still tempted)

What I want:

✅ Smooth gearbox (no jerks)

✅ Comfortable suspension

✅ Stable ride (no bobbing)

✅ Safe

✅ Black colour if possible

✅ ₹15-16L on-road (Kerala)

Questions:

  1. Astor CVT vs 3XO — which is smoother for a passenger?

  2. Am I overthinking Citroën's service issues?

  3. Any other cars I'm missing?

Help a first-time buyer out 🙏

Alert: Dashcam scam in Amazon

I just bought this dash cam advertisement as ADAS assistance feature available for 4K thinking value for money. After connecting I don’t see any option to enable ADAS or don’t see a sign of that feature available in the menus. I reached out to ddpai support and got know that this model does not have ADAS and it is china only model.

Looks like seller bought in bulk from china and selling it by misleading everyone in Amazon

I reached out to Amazon customer care about this misinformation, but no change so far. So beware everyone.

Terrible mileage. Tata tigor.

So 2 months back I got this car. It’s a Tata tigor petrol xm variant. So the ideal plan was to get a compact and fuel efficient car as I already own 2 more cars(hector & Triber). We had an alto , exchanged it for this one.
Did so much research on this car , on an avg this should at least give 15kmpl even with worse driving conditions. But look at this. 9.7kmpl.
First service is completed. What’s going wrong with it?
Yes there is traffic as I’m from Kolkata. But still keeping everything in mind this shouldn’t be giving such low mileage. Even my other cars give around the same.
Advices and Suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

Reckless biker crashed into my car

I was driving my car quite normally down the road, on the right side. There no almost no space between my car and the divider, when a stupid biker just tried to overtake me and he totally crashed into my car. Then he had the audacity to say that he was going straight and i barged my car into him. How do such shameless people exist on indian roads?

PS can someone please run the number plate and help me identify this person?
