I like Kushaq exterior, Taigun interior , Duster Gearbox and Kylaq never left me missing anything

As the title reports, I was looking for my first personal car, though not in a hurry

drove a friend's kylaq Signature plus AT , I was impressed felt it was mature, was just too eager and I loved it honestly, don't know about others but I felt home

but then I though I will keep my cars for long, so why not go all the way

and then I started looking for bigger engine european cars

Kushaq exterior is jaw dropping but interior dashboard feels something's missing

Taigun interor design feels premium (by looks not that's it's soft touch)

Then comes Duster which has an oil cooled gearbox and will also cost 4 lacs less as i was not looking at top variant but tbh I don't wanna go with reflector headlights again

now a small issue is Scorpio N Z6 D AT and XUV7XO AX3 D AT are also available at these price points and the Jatt inside me is thinking maybe I can TD them too.

but their FE, service and warranty cost are just too much to handle even at 5k kms a year especially when I have to drive like literally just for pleasure, I go to office on my jupiter

So it started with driving kylaq, with BH registration is will go down to 13 lacs for sportline AT, never missed a beat in it, currently single and even if kids come into picture 5 years down the line space should not be a concern

but the I can just go for the european duster at 16 lacs for adventure AT with BH registration which is just a grade above kylaq

Then my heart has been longing for a VW Skoda since we bought dad his honda city, which cost me 20 lacs with BH registration but right about then i can go for 7XO D AT which is humongous and I was impressed with my friend's 2019 XUV500 that it was good but Bodyroll was evident in 500 idk how much of it is in 7XO

What you folks would advice me, please put some sense in me

starting with the kylaq now we are at 7XO

We are up against this

So apparently, a temple constructed during the BJP government's tenure, overseen by a committee formed under that government and reportedly including individuals with past associations with the BJP and RSS, is now being described as a scam allegedly carried out by Akhilesh Yadav. That raises an obvious question: if the project was planned, approved, supervised, and executed under the authority of the ruling administration and its appointed committee, on what basis is responsibility being shifted elsewhere? If there is credible evidence against anyone, it should be presented transparently. Otherwise, such allegations appear politically motivated rather than grounded in accountability or verifiable facts.

PSU engineer at level 10, should I give a shot at the IAS? I'm struggling with the trade-off

Summary:

I have a stable Group A job at NPCIL and am considering preparing for UPSC CSE because of the wider impact, influence and network it offers. The preparation itself doesn't worry me as much as the possibility of spending the next 7 years in a cycle of work, study and loneliness, especially with a remote posting. For those who've walked this path, was it worth the personal sacrifices

Detailed:

I am 25, recently joined NPCIL as a Scientific officer at level 10, out of 95k candidates i was top 20.

Now given the last line, and the stability I have, I am considering giving a shot at the UPSC CSE, I have 4 NOC available from my department so it should be a calculated move.

My motivation is primarily elevated social circle, the sheer amount of connections it attracts is humongous. I won't pretend I am altruistic.

Practically I beleive it's possible is because my job is strictly 9 to 5. after that nothing.

I have a bond period of 3 years, so time is not an issue.

What is an issue is extended loneliness sequences, given 3 year bond + 4 attempts, that is 7 years of uncertaininity.

Given remote posting, there is not much to do and for UPSC, I would be giving up fun, travel and wedding.

So can you guys throw in your inputs, like how you guys are coping up, it's a mamoth task with loneliness

Should I sit back and relax
or
throw in myself for a 7 year grind which I may pass

Notes i made during prep

Gate might have been easy for some but not for me

For me it took efforts

I was good but not the best

10th 9.2 cg

12th 89%

Grad 7.9 cg

Jee main 93%Ile and 67%Ile

Gate 2024: 365

Gate 2025: 250

Gate 2026: 700+

All it took was a sheer effort, more than the study its the isolation and the fight you have to make to stay socially disconnected

Picture of fair notes i made during prep

NPCIL Interview Transcript 2026 (ECE)

Introduction

made using chat gpt

The interview began with a brief introduction.

I spoke about:

  • My B.Tech background.
  • Joining my family's business after graduation.
  • Preparing for GATE afterward.

The panel then moved to projects.

Projects

Weather-Aware Solar Irrigation System

I explained a MATLAB-based study where a weather API was integrated into a solar irrigation system.

The objective was to delay irrigation if rainfall was predicted, thereby reducing unnecessary water usage and utilizing natural rainfall more effectively.

Beamforming Matrix Complexity Reduction

My second project involved reducing beamforming matrix computation complexity using k-means clustering.

The panel focused more on beamforming than the clustering aspect.

Questions included:

  • What is beamforming?
  • What does it do?
  • Why is beamforming matrix computation difficult?

I explained that beamforming involves large numbers of complex-valued computations. The idea was to cluster similar conditions using k-means and classify future conditions into those clusters instead of repeatedly performing expensive computations.

Analog Electronics

The panel asked me to list my favourite subjects.

I mentioned:

  • Analog Electronics
  • Control Systems
  • Digital Electronics
  • Electronic Devices

The discussion began with Analog Electronics.

Operational Amplifier

Questions included:

  • What is an operational amplifier?
  • Draw the symbol.
  • State its properties.

I discussed ideal op-amp properties and practical non-idealities.

Differential Amplifier and CMRR

A panelist gave an amplifier with gain = 100 and two input cases:

Case 1:

  • 5.05 V and 5 V

Case 2:

  • 10.05 V and 10 V

The discussion moved through:

  • Differential gain
  • Common-mode signals
  • Common-mode gain
  • CMRR

I was given:

  • Differential gain = 100
  • CMRR = 50 dB

The panel repeatedly asked how common-mode gain affects the output and how finite CMRR would cause deviation from the ideal output.

I explained common-mode signals and the meaning of CMRR but could not correctly relate common-mode gain to the resulting output error despite several hints.

Slew Rate

I was asked about slew rate and could not recall it at that moment.

Bandwidth

A panel member asked whether bandwidth is affected by speed.

I replied that speed and bandwidth are related but could not immediately recall a direct formal relationship.

Hysteresis

I was asked:

  • What is hysteresis?

I explained the concept and drew the hysteresis characteristic of an inverting Schmitt trigger.

I was then asked how the graph could be shifted toward the right.

I initially suggested adding a DC reference. During further discussion I moved toward changing β, but did not arrive at a complete explanation.

Control Systems

I first clarified whether the discussion was about controllers and compensators.

The panelist confirmed.

Controllers and Compensators

I was asked to list different controllers and compensators.

While listing them, the panelist stopped at:

  • Phase Lead Compensator
  • Phase Lag Compensator

He pointed out that their transfer functions appear similar and asked how they differ.

I explained their effect on phase and system response.

Pole-Zero Discussion

The panelist removed the zero from a lead compensator and asked what remained.

I answered that it becomes a first-order system and discussed the difference in behavior.

Water Tank Control System

We discussed a practical water-level control system.

Topics included:

  • Feedback
  • Controller action
  • Desired output
  • Disturbances

This became a technical discussion rather than a direct question-answer session.

Digital Electronics

Ripple Counter

I was asked:

"What is a ripple counter?"

I clarified whether they meant an asynchronous counter.

After confirmation, I explained:

  • What a counter is.
  • Why ripple propagation occurs.

I was not completely certain about the origin of the term "ripple."

Mod-3 Counter

The panel asked me to draw a Mod-3 ripple up-counter.

I drew the circuit using asynchronous clearing.

Startup Question

A panelist asked:

"When power is applied, does it automatically start from the desired state?"

I explained that a startup or reset arrangement may be required to guarantee the initial state.

Since a clear circuit was already present, I suggested integrating startup logic with it.

Frequency Question

I was asked whether the frequencies would remain the same.

I analyzed the state transitions and concluded that the frequency behavior would remain unchanged.

Electronic Devices

Emitter Follower

A panelist asked:

"What is an emitter follower?"

I explained its purpose and drew the circuit.

My initial sketch was the AC equivalent circuit.

The panel pointed out that the biasing arrangement was missing.

I then redrew the complete circuit including the biasing network.

While redrawing, I accidentally placed the output incorrectly relative to the emitter resistor.

The panel pointed it out and I corrected it immediately.

The discussion then moved to:

  • Coupling capacitors
  • Purpose of various circuit elements

Amplifier Coupling Conditions

A question was asked regarding amplifier coupling conditions.

I could not recall the exact conditions at that moment.

B.Tech Subjects

Phase Encoder

I was asked about a phase encoder from my coursework.

I admitted that I had studied it years ago and could not recall the details.

Microprocessor and Microcontroller

Questions included:

  • Difference between microprocessor and microcontroller
  • Devices studied during coursework

I mentioned:

  • 8085
  • 8086
  • 8051

I also acknowledged that I would need revision on some finer details.

Network Theory and Analog Electronics

The panel then asked me to discuss something from my GATE preparation.

Superposition Theorem

I explained the superposition theorem.

Miller's Theorem

I explained Miller's theorem.

Op-Amp Circuit

A panelist drew an op-amp circuit and asked me to identify it.

I did not immediately recognize it and started deriving the transfer function to determine whether it was an integrator or differentiator.

The panel encouraged me to identify it directly.

While analyzing the circuit, I incorrectly treated the capacitor during the derivation and did not properly use the virtual-ground concept.

The panel pointed out the mistake and suggested reviewing it afterward.

The interview concluded shortly afterward.

Help between IITs and NITs

Hello everyone

I gave GATE in 2026 and had a good score

Now in COAP R6

I have

IIT Bombay communication
IIT BHU Digital techniques
IIT Roorkee solid state electronics
IIT Kanpur RF and Microwave

while

I also have NIT Rourkela VLSI and embedded system in hand

the core issue is NITR is having 100% placement through a mix of intern and full time
while IITs do have an upper hand in reputation, the recent switch to 1 year intern followed by PPO model is not sitting well with professors who want students to do research in final year.

There were talks about implementing new curriculum but it is nowhere to be seen

I have 2 days to decide kindly help me

Is it just me who think PW has taught enough?

Everytime i came across this sub, most people have the following opinion

  1. teaching too basic

  2. not many difficult questions

  3. content volume is problem

Now I agree with the third one, content is too much

But on the other hand, I have been able to solve most ESE and gate questions I have come across

On content volume yes, I would not suggest PW to.someone who is in middle of 6th sem with <12 months to gate but others can manage it

I have received a lot of DMs and I say same thing to each and everyone of you

Formatted using chat GPT before anyone comes and say AI strategy

This is a constraint-based approach. Not idealistic, just what actually works under time limits.

Core Rule

  • 30 mins daily → full notes reading (non-negotiable)
  • It's not like you have to read each subject 30 mins daily, but read your full notes 30 mins daily on rotation

Classes

  • Prefer recorded classes
  • Mon - Friday 8-10 hours classes schedule, DPP on Saturday and Sunday rest
  • Run two subjects parallel
  • Cap total lecture time: ≤ 900 hours
    • Beyond this is not realistically executable

Subject Order (ECE)

  1. Maths
  2. Networks
  3. Signals
  4. Control
  5. Analog
  6. Communication
  7. Digital
  8. EDC

Subject Strategy Notes

  • Skip EMT
    • High time cost, low weightage → poor ROI
  • Analog + Communication deadline: 31st Oct
    • If completed → take full courses for Digital & EDC
    • If not → go crash course mode for Digital & EDC

EDC (if crash course)

  • Chandan Gupta Genique Crash Course
  • MOS Capacitor → Kamesh Srivastava

Practice System

  • Class → Repeat class questions
  • Then → DPP
  • Keep it tight, no over-expansion

PYQs

  • Start solving PYQs of all subjects from 1st December
  • Parallel to revision and mocks

Aptitude

  • Start on dec 1 via YouTube, no PYQs required 1 hour daily
  • Don’t leave it for the end

Mock Test Strategy

  • Max 2 full-length tests per week
  • Important
    • Exam: 10 Feb
    • Last mock: 3 Feb
  • No last-week overloading, only full notes reading or those one shots sessions by coachings

Key Principle

Consistency > intensity

Daily 30-min notes revision + controlled syllabus coverage beats random heavy days.

If you follow this strictly, coverage + retention both stay under control without burnout.

if anyone has anything to add to, kindly add in the comments
