Buenas. Sigo como veinte animes en emisión repartidos entre varias webs y me pasaba lo de siempre: abrir cinco pestañas cada tarde para ver si había salido algo, y no acordarme de por qué episodio iba en la mitad. Me hice esto para mí hace un mes y lo uso a diario, así que lo dejo por aquí por si a alguien le sirve.

Se llama AnimeOnTrack (AOT XD) y hace esto:

Te avisa cuando sale episodio nuevo de lo que sigues. Todo lo nuevo cae en una sola lista de Pendientes, ordenada por número de episodio.

Tu progreso es el mismo en todas las webs. Si una se cae o cambias de página, sigues justo donde estabas. Y cada sitio tiene su lista de espejos, así que cuando un dominio muere pasa solo al siguiente que funcione.

Copia local del catálogo de AniList, unos 22.000 títulos. Buscar y filtrar por género, tipo o estudio va instantáneo y funciona sin internet.

Pantalla de estadísticas con episodios vistos, tiempo total, top series y actividad por días. Aviso de que engancha más de lo que parece.

Modo Descubrir tipo swipe para ir clasificando en quiero ver, ya lo vi o no me interesa, con filtros por género y por fecha de estreno.

Sin cuenta, sin anuncios y sin telemetría. Todo se queda en tu PC. Backup opcional a tu propio Google Drive si te da miedo perderlo.

Y un apunte que quiero dejar claro porque va a salir igual. Yo siempre voy a defender pagar por lo que ves. Los estudios y la gente que hace anime no viven del aire, y si puedes apoyarles de forma oficial deberías hacerlo, y yo lo hago. Pero tampoco voy a hacer como que la historia es simple: sin fansubs y sin páginas de streaming el anime en español no sería ni de lejos lo que es hoy, muchos estamos aquí precisamente por esa puerta. Y hay un detalle más incómodo todavía: hay títulos que solo existen fansubeados, que nunca se han licenciado ni traducido aquí, y en esos el pues págalo no es una opción que exista. No puedes apoyar algo que nadie te está vendiendo.

Así que apoyad donde de verdad se pueda, y entended la app por lo que es: un tracker hecho por alguien al que le gusta esto, no una excusa para saltarse el pack cuando el pack existe. La app en sí no aloja, ni descarga, ni reproduce nada. Solo lee páginas públicas para saber cuándo hay episodio nuevo y te abre el enlace.

I follow around twenty ongoing anime and I could never remember which episode I was on, so I kept checking the same pages every day to see if something new had dropped. I built this so I do not have to.

What it does:

  • Tells you when a new episode of anything you follow is out. Everything new lands in one Pending list, sorted by episode number.
  • Marking an episode as watched fills in the earlier ones, so your progress can never end up with holes in it.
  • Your whole library on one screen, filterable by status, type, genre and studio.
  • A local copy of the AniList catalog, around 22,000 titles, so browsing and searching work with the network off.
  • A stats screen: episodes watched, estimated time watched, top series, activity over time.
  • A swipe deck for sorting titles into want to watch, already seen or not interested.
  • Optional backup of your database to your own Google Drive, and light and dark themes.

Free and open source, GPL-3.0. No account, no server, no telemetry, no ads. Everything lives on your machine. Windows only, built with Tauri and Rust, installer is about 5 MB.

To be clear about what it is not: it does not host, stream or download anything. It reads public pages to detect new episodes and opens links in a window.

[Windows] AnimeOnTrack, a desktop anime episode tracker. Free, open source, no account. Looking for feedback on whether it makes sense to anyone but me

I made a desktop tracker that watches several streaming sites for new episodes so you do not have to check them yourself (free, open source)

Posting this as a developer post per rule 4, so I will keep it to what it does and how it works rather than a sales pitch.

The problem it solves: I follow maybe twenty airing shows and they are spread across different sites, so checking for new episodes meant opening all of them every day. This does that check for me and just tells me what is new.

How it works, since this sub cares about that kind of thing: these sites sit behind Cloudflare, so a normal HTTP request just gets a 403. The app opens a hidden browser window, lets the challenge clear, then reads the rendered page and parses it. It only touches a site when it has to, which is the airing scan and fetching an episode list for something you follow. Browsing, filtering and stats all run against a local copy of the AniList catalog (about 22,000 titles), so none of that hits any site. Covers are fetched one at a time rather than in bulk, because pulling 150 images at once looks like abuse regardless of your session and gets you rate limited.

Other things it does: keeps your watch progress per episode and marks everything before it when you mark one seen, so you never end up half tracked. Your follows and progress are shared across sites, so if a site goes down or you switch to another one, you do not lose your place. Each site has a mirror list and it falls through to a working clone when a domain dies, and it only accepts a mirror if the page actually parses, since a dead domain often returns a perfectly fine looking unrelated site. There is also a stats screen and a swipe style discovery deck, both fully local.

To be clear about what it is not: it does not host, stream or download anything. It reads public pages to detect new episodes and opens links in a window. No account, no telemetry, no ads, nothing monetised, GPL-3.0 so the source is all there to read.

Windows only right now, the scraping layer is tied to WebView2. Six site adapters so far, all Spanish language sites since that is what I use, but adding one is a single trait implementation if anyone wants a different one.

Using WebviewWindowBuilder as a scraper for Cloudflare protected pages, and what I learned doing it

I have been building a Tauri v2 app that needs to read pages sitting behind Cloudflare, and the approach ended up being unusual enough that it might be useful to someone here.

reqwest is useless here, the JavaScript challenge needs a real engine. So the app builds a WebviewWindow pointed at the target URL, waits until it clears, and then reads the rendered DOM back host side.

The main gotchas, in case they save someone time:

Tauri does not inject its IPC into external pages, which is correct and you would not want it there anyway. So getting the HTML out means going one level down: on Windows that is ICoreWebView2::ExecuteScript through webview2-com. It works well but it is Windows specific, so that whole module is cfg gated with a stub for other platforms.

ExecuteScript does not await a returned promise. An unresolved promise just serializes to null, so every script you send has to be synchronous, or use a poll for a global pattern instead of await. That one cost me a while.

Do not wait for readyState to be complete. Pages loading ad or tracker scripts can sit at interactive forever while being visually finished, so the readiness probe accepts interactive or complete plus a body size floor and a title check that excludes known challenge pages.

Concurrency needs one process wide ceiling, not a per command one. Every caller (a refresh, the discovery deck, a one off detail fetch) now draws from a single semaphore. Per caller limits looked fine in isolation and still stacked into multi second stalls and occasional ExecuteScript timeouts when two flows overlapped.

One more that is not Tauri specific but bit me hard: a synchronous #[tauri::command] runs on the main thread from the WebView2 callback, and a panic there cannot unwind across the FFI boundary, so the runtime aborts the process. In a release build with no console that shows up as the app simply closing, with nothing to go on. I ended up installing a panic hook that appends to a log file next to the database, which turned a crash dump investigation into reading one line.

Curious whether anyone has done the same on macOS or Linux, since porting means reimplementing the eval bridge against WKWebView and WebKitGTK and I have not touched either.
