Well, except for the one Termigant and Swarmlord, those were by the book and box art. Also started to build more Ultramarines.

Sorry for the green stuff on the Hive Tyrant and Ravener. Gonna get around to priming and osinting soonish but its been too hot lately

For the Hive Tyrant, I wanted to used the Winged version's tail, so I tried to cut what I could from the base it would normally stand on, glued the tail on and green stuffed it to hide the seams and give it a bit of texture. I had extra talons from my first Hive Tyrant kit and used those for the second pair of arms. Was inspired by a certain bug lady.

The arm broke on the Ravener before I recieved it and it's a 3D resin print (to be repainted), so Citadel glue wasn't gonna work. I just greenstuffed it to make it look like a gnarly battle wound, kinda like Old One Eye.

Some of the heads and body bits on the Genestealers got swapped by accident (was not wearing my glasses when building). One bit I had to actually snip in half and glue them on separately. I also used those Cthulu heads for a sort of Mind Flayer type look.

The Pyrovore uses one Biovore leg in the front cuz I goofed on trying to glue together a front leg part that was in two halves.

On one Hive Guard I kitbashed the gun from the two different design halves, and it wound up squatting lower than I intended so he's having a taste of himself. Mmm, tasty like bug.

Still learning the Warhammer lore and even played a stripped back beginner's game recently. Killed more Tau than my opponent killed my bugs before it was time for the shop to close up.

Loving it so far. Still thinking about their possible colors and a Hive Fleet name. Kinda leaning towards calling it Fleet Kerrigan (in reference to Starcraft) and making their colors similar to the aforementioned bug lady.

Rambutan- the Yiga Dual Slate Developer

Dang, did Reddit remove the ability to give images captions? I can't seem to figure it out now that I'm back.

Anyway, lemme give yall a quickish history lesson. Rambutan actually came to me in a dream in 2023 sometime between January and the release of TOTK, and ofc since I didn't spoil the game for myself (lousy leakers!), I had been revisiting BOTW and AoC. The latter of which was where said dream took place, so technically he first appeared in that timeline split. It was quite vivid, though certain details were vague and would be fleshed out later on.

After the destruction of the Yiga Clan Hideout by the mechanical hooves of Vah Nabooris, Rambutan, then an ordinary, generic and nameless footsoldier, was cleaning up the rubble, when he found something buried underneath it- a Yiga Clan equivalent to the Sheikah Slate. He took it back to the hideout for study, but it was soon swiped by a Sheikah agent- a certain hooded ranger with braids. Sooga squared off with her, and recovered the Slate.

Now, the idea of a Yiga Slate obviously isn't novel, I must have seen it somewhere before either here or somewhere on Google or DA. So, with how vague some of the visuals were in the dream, I decided to take my own approach. If the Sheikah Slate is a Wii U Gamepad, and the Purah Pad is a Switch, then logically, my Yiga version could be based on a different handheld- so naturally I opted for the 3DS, thus the Yiga Dual Slate/Yiga Developer System was born. I even went so far as to make custom 3DS themes for it and a boot video, though I'm trying to rework the themes currently, so I removed them from Theme Plaza for the time being.

Rambutan, however, was lacking in development; I'd spent so much time developing the idea of the YDS and its possible functions that I completely neglected the character who discovered it to begin with. So I started crafting a backstory for him. I started with a name- Rambu (short for Rambutan, but I tend to stick with the longer version cuz it has a nice ring to it). Rambutan is Sheikah by birth- grew up alongside Purah, Robbie and Impa, and wound up working for the Royal Tech Labs later on. I'm still fleshing out some of the deets, but one way or another, he's ended up with the Yiga Clan, to balance out the playing field with his tech expertise, though he had to prove his worth as a footsoldier first.

Several months ago on this sub on my old account, the True Yiga attacked his lab, looking to steal his tech. As a last ditch effort, Rambutan deployed his Fire Bomb rune and made an emergency teleport to somewhere in the Depths. Injured, and with his visor and YDS damaged, he laid low, going from base to base to try to make repairs to his gear, to little success. A scientist without a lab, reduced to a struggling footsoldier...but now he's back, and with Koga's help here, has made a return and repaired his gear with what could be salvaged from the ruins of his lab deep in the Yiga Hideout.

As I've developed him, I've made his design more unique too. At first I gave him a more unique suit, with a lab coat and bananas in the pockets- the boy needs his potassium! I also added a VR headset- this is inspired by the Virtual Boy and other type VR headsets like the Occuclus Rift, Valve Index, etc. I've not really fleshed out its own functions yet. The headset actually covers up the eye holes in the mask I used for him in Hero Forge, which originates from the collab with Shadow Scar- hence the magatama. They're merely decorative, so they're not Zonai Stones. In more recent times I swapped the mask out for a fencing mask of some variety (might have come from the Magic Sword collab actually? (Magic Sword are awesome btw, check out their tunes!), but I used projected decals to give him back the magatama (I use this same feature for the eye, both decals are also lifted from the Shadow Scar collab). Post lab accident I fiddled with the idea of giving him a robotic hand, but that felt too much like ripped off Link's Zonai arm, so I improvised further. A glove, but just one. I've decided that, despite being a third party peripheral and a pretty crap one at that, that the glove would be based on the infamously bad Power Glove. I also haven't exactly fleshed out its functions, like the visor; and neither have names like the YDS yet. I was thinking YiGlove for the, well, glove, but am stuck for names on the visor. All I know about the visor's functionality is that it make everything red and black. Maybe it could have similar 3D hologram projection tech like the YDS, or give Rambutan a personal HUD he can interact with; maybe like a personal lab/PC within his visor? Could the glove be used to interface with the HUD/projections? Could these pieces of tech be based on or repurposed from failed Sheikah prototypes? Lemme know!

I decided to strip back the YDS' functionality for now for roleplaying/lore purposes. So for the moment it just has basic Sheikah Runes, teleportation and its 3D hologram projection. Oh and sending transmissions, an idea inspired by Metal Gear Solid and Star Fox. I wanted to make it unique compared to the Purah Pad and Sheikah Slate, but I'm worried that some might see it as just a copy of those but better, and that might come off as OP. Some of my ideas also had previously overlapped with those of Meta-Wah's and I didn't want to step on any toes, and I wasn't gonna touch Zonai stuff cuz the Yiga Construct guy was already kinda doing that. If you've seen any of my old posts from my previous account, any feedback on the rune ideas would be appreciated. I really would like this to be unique but without coming off as OP or better than the stock Slate per say, and I don't want people to think some of my ideas are ripping off theirs either.

A few users previously drew or doodled Rambutan before my hiatus/new account, but sadly I've forgotten their names, so I didn't include any of those doodles.

Rambutan is, to my knowledge, still slated to possibly appear as an NPC in a future version of Dangerous to Go Alone, and I created a masquerade outfit for him too, and submitted it to Quest Junkies' for a future DTGA campaign, so he may appear there later too.

As a bonus, I've thrown in two old pics of Rambutan in Miitopia and Smash, plus a new one from Tomodachi Life. Man, those were a real piece of work to get off my SD card since I only have access to Linux nowadays

*INCOMING TRANSMISSION*

"Attention: come in all Yiga Clan Members! Respond to all calls, I repeat, respond to all calls! This is the scientist Rambutan reporting for duty after a long hiatus. Watch this space! Can you read me?"

(Hope the YDS and its transmissions are within the parameters of the tech rules still; it's been a long time, sorry.)
