I'm literally begging on my knees 🙏
It sounded so so good

I haven't seen anything proving this but people keep claiming this. I hope they are but I'm pretty sure he's not even following him on twitter (X) anymore?
I just get that feeling that if we were to get a music video for it, it would be perfect in animation
I know we only kinda got it once with Knee Deep At ATP but it would be so cool to see integrations of animation especially since they can be so much more expressive and be easier to tell stories. I know animation is expensive but I think they should consider this, atleast in the future maybe.
Especially with the whole tone/vibe we got from Second To One, I would honestly love to see this.
MORE PASSION. MORE ANGER. MORE SADNESS AND PAIN. MORE LOVE. MORE JOY!!
Now, I'm not saying it's a bad song. In fact, I really like it, but unfortunately I do think it's the least interesting and least impactful of the entire EP.
The vocals have too many effects and feel out of place compared to the rest of the EP. On the other tracks, Wilbur sounds like... Wilbur. Here, the vocals feel so heavily polished that they lose some of the emotion and power they could have had, coming across as a little synthetic and inauthentic.
The instrumentation is still good, but I think the rest of the EP (even in its 14 minute length) knocks it right out of the park. I also don't personally like how compressed the mix feels. The lead guitar feels pushed further back than it should be, which (imo) takes away some of the song's energy and impact.
The vocal delivery on certain lines also feels more restrained than it could have been.
With all of that in mind, if the band hadn't mentioned that the song was stuck in development hell, I probably would've guessed it was myself, especially considering how long it took to finally release.
I know people are probably tired of hearing this comparison, but the live version had so much more rawness, not just in the vocals but in the instrumentation too. The slight imperfections, the bits of dissonance and the extra strain in Wilbur's voice made the performance feel more emotionally compelling. By comparison, the studio version feels more controlled, but also more restrained.
Again, I don't want this to come across as hate. I love the song, and I love Lovejoy. I want to see them succeed and make the best music they can, so all of this comes from a place of love and constructive criticism rather than negativity.
Thank you for reading :D
Is the ghost staying? Will we get back the old icon? Or perhaps with the 2nd album we'll get another whole new icon?
What do you guys think
We need to bring back Mark's chaotic Drumming from AYA and Pebble Brain with more of him singing and mixing too, he did so great mixing the two songs on STO.
I DEMAND MORE MARK BOARDMAN.
LIKE SINCE WHEN WAS HE A MIXING ENGINEER!? WHAT ELSE IS MARK HIDING FROM US
Thank You Wilbur, Joe, Ash, Mark, for all the amazing music. I'm keeping myself alive to hear the 2nd album because I love you guy's music so much and will be listening to the new ep religiously till then. I also want to say that I barely have any other top artists I really appreciate and love more than Lovejoy that make consistently amazing music and I hope to one day see Lovejoy live if I ever get off my fat ass and purchase a ticket and attend (I have anxiety and have never gone to concerts before but I'm hoping it's probably less scary since Lovejog is kinda underrated now).
Again thank you for all the music and thank you everyone in the community for being so lovely. ❤️
I love Snake Oil but I feel like The Vows most deserves the music video and has most potential for one. I'm absolutely in love with the instrumental and lyrics and all the things it could mean. I'M PRAYING THE VOWS GETS THE NEXT MUSIC VIDEO 🙏🙏🙏
We need this. Bring back Acoustic Versions (to spotify)
I KNOW HE SAID THIS MIGHT CHANGE BUT THIS IS SO COOL. EVERYONE PUT ON YOUR THINKING CAPS AND THEORISE!!
(and yes I missed the stream 'cause I was asleep and now watching it back)
Not what I was expecting ngl.
Wasted Summer. Is cool and has grown on me a lot.
Snake Oil. Holy fuck it sounds so different from the snippet we got and the live version like I was literally in shock. Very aggressive and kind of like a sequel to the sound of WU&IO (Applies to The Vows which I was wrong about that being the name for CTMH so mb guys). I know the snippet for snake oil we got on wilburs stream a while ago now but atleast what I think rn, I kinda liked the Snippet version but I also do like this one with how much more grungier and "Filthy" it sounds lol, especially with the "DO YOU WANNA TAKE ME HOME" part from the snippet made me ascend. I also like the vocal effects and think that vocals were handled really well, though I was unsure when Wasted Summer released because of how different it was.
Curse These Metal Hands. Reminds of me of their older stuff like Pebble Brain and AYA for some reason. The song is a lot more Raw than I thought it would be though we were supposed to expect that, there was a lot of space in the song. I don't have much to say except It's fun but I might put it the lowest, it's very short and kinda felt like it could've had a bit more but it's still pretty good.
The Vows is an absolute banger and makes me want to let the voices in. The energy is great and it's honestly a perfect end to the EP. And the voices in the back also sound like from OST and NPT, maybe not the same audio idk but really cool. The start was very interesting and explosive. The ending was pretty abrupt though and personally think it could have been better especially with it being the end of the EP.
But..
Overall. Good EP.
My ratings for the songs are
The Vows
Snake Oil
Wasted Summer
Curse These Metal Hands
Really hard to rate when I really like all of them honestly but I will say CTMH was a bit disappointing and lacked a bit. Wasted Summer is good and catchy vibes, honestly a bit repetitive in the instrumental but I like the vibe and lyrics, hella hit fs fs.
Snake Oil and The Vows take the top for me.
12 hours roughly remain...
In the meanwhile, what song are you guys most Excited for on the Upcoming EP?
-Snake Oil
-The Vows
-Curse These Metal Hands
And what do you think will be the best song?
I'm thinking that CTMH is going to be mid ep or at end of the ep. Wilbur likes The Vows and from what I heard I really like it too (said in earlier posts glazing the bass on it which I'll say rn I still rlly rlly love it). Snake Oil also sounds really good, in my predictions it could be the top 1 or top 2 of the ep. I love Wasted Summer but I'm probably gonna put it the lowest in rating to the whole ep. I have high expectations for CTMH.
I know that the other songs aren't even officially out yet but Wasted Summer is so far sounding like the least strong of all of them (to me personally). But don't get me wrong I still like it :D
Hope everyone reads this has a good day AND SEE YOU ALL ON THE RELEASE DAY FOR SECOND TO ONE!!!!!
:D
They've only done AYA and I'm interested to hear what everyone thinks, though I'm not personally interested in the acoustic versions they did but maybe for other songs/Eps/The Album it would be cool?
