My Chem 112 Professor posted "All grade requests should be submitted before 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19." during which I was heading home on a 30 hour trip back to my country for the holidays. I had a C- for the course which I was relieved by since that meant I will be able to retake the course next semester but today when I rechecked the grades it was a 73 - a C. I was so confused and even recalculated several times with the course's own excel formula and it's still a C-. The grade was off by 5 whole points.

I'm worried about the statement the professor made even though according to the academic calendar the deadline for final grades is the 21st at midnight. If I'm denied of my true grade do I have grounds to make a dispute? What is the process of this? I already emailed the professor and I'm aware that the time right now is 3am on the 21st.

Ending this term (sophomore) with a 3.1 GPA overall or maybe even lower and I'm feeling terrible. Most students have a 3.9 nowadays so even with decent experience on my resume I don't feel confident at all. I got interviews at Dell and Liberty Mutual this sem and bombed both and I can't help feeling it was due to low GPA.

Is there anyway I can avoid this question when asked next cycle? Should I avoid it answering truthfully at all? Should I lie?
