Personally, it was the fact that we never got the Goatee

I personally just didn't like Arrow as an adaptation. The show's good and entertaining, but as an adaptation to Green Arrow, it sucked. Ollie had no Goatee, the character designs are underwhelming (Roy, Merlyn, Connor, etc), and overall, the show was just WAY too dark and gritty. It made it seem like this was Green Batman, and not Green Arrow.

That strap of episodes of George's death genuinely makes me cry every time I watch it. I've rewatched the show multiple times, and I ALWAYS cry when George dies.
