Sweetest moment in Young Sheldon?? 🥹🥹
Personally, i love the episodes where George teaches Missy how to throw a baseball. Specifically the dunk tank scene. Missy was just so happy and bada$$ and George looked so proud, and the whole crowd was cheering for Missy, and it was just lovely to see her shine like that. One of my favorite scenes 🥹🥹. What about y'all? What are your favorite scenes?
Anyone else think Danielle Panabaker would make a great adult missy?
why did the directors decide to kill of pop-pop before the show even started?
>!i understand why they had to end the series with the death of george, but why couldn't they have kept pop-pop? i don't remember them ever explicitly stating in big bang that he died when he was very little, so i just don't really get it.!<
Georgie and Veronica Duncan
I think it’s a good thing that Georgie didn’t end up with Veronica Duncan.
If he ended up dating her, he would basically be dating a younger version of Mary.
They would probably have the same problems that George and Mary had during their marriage.
Will the new stewart show explain the inconsistencies between young sheldon and the big bang theory?
Idk if inconsistent is the right word so take this post with a grain of salt
I do not understand why Georgie and mandy got the spinoff when they are the worst characters 😕
reddit.comThe Representation of Autism
While I understand the avoidance of an official diagnosis for Sheldon, in my opinion his character displays a lot of traits that are familiar to me, having close friends and family with ASD diagnoses ( so not an expert ).
I was wondering if there's anyone with an ASD diagnosis who might be comfortable sharing their perspective on the show's representation of autism, or maybe you disagree with the autism assumption altogether.
The other day I asked my boyfriend what he thought about the potential representation of autism on the show since he grew up with a sister who was diagnosed with ASD at an early age.
He said he struggles with how everyone lets Sheldon 'get away' with things he says and does that are inappropriate or harmful to others and wishes it showed that those on the spectrum can still be held accountable to an extent. He does appreciate the character and cheered that they didn't shy away from showing the complexities of living with someone with autism, the unconditional love among all the perks and flaws.
(I'm sorry if any views or wording shared in this post offends anyone, I'm very open to any feedback on how to improve discussing matters such as this. I'm here trying to better my understanding of ASD)
i think i know why sheldon feels less relevant in the later seasons
to be clear, this is not a dunk on the later seasons, since i love the entire show. however, it is a common complaint to say that sheldon gradually steps away from the spotlight in his own show. the easiest reason to point to is georgie and mandy's relationship, but i think i found a bigger reason. even though sheldon has always had his quirks with some extraordinary things happening to him as a young child, he was always interacting with his family. in the later seasons, he spends time away from family in germany, as well as work on projects with dr sturgis and dr linkletter. by the seventh season, he barely lives in his own home and is usually at east texas tech to avoid the aftermath of the tornado. in the beggining seasons, even if sheldon is doing something extraordinary, his family is by his side, like when he goes to the nasa space center. additionally, everything he did still affected everyone in his family. the later episodes that focus on sheldon dont have this spark because it is about sheldons life outside of his family. this is just an insight i had, and i want to know your thoughts on it.
i kinda hate the big bang theory as the ending for some of the family
I love young sheldon and i have very limited understanding/view of big bang theory so feel free to correct me on any mistakes or try to change my mind
It really kills me that Sheldon really didnt get any better, there seemed to be sm character development closer to the end. You'd think bein seperated from his mother who praises everything he does would like help him grow but idk
I understand George dyin is realistic but its so tragic and u can see its long term impact on the family
Poor Georgie the way he had to become the man of the house at such a young age, im happy he got his happy endin as a successful business owner and Sheldon got his nobel prize and shit
but dont even get me started with missy bro, divorved 4 kids?? come onnn there seemed to be sm more in her future
I really felt Mary was starting to stray a way little from religion but she just got worse 💔💔
i have tried to watch Big Bang but i just can't bring myself to like it esp post watchin young sheldon, im bias but young sheldon seems better written anyway
im assumin cus of every criticism on this show and its characters, the response is always "TBBt did this now young sheldon just cant" MAN FUCK THAT SHOW!!! 😭
ruined so many possibilities
George looked so proud that Georgie bought cable.
Young Sheldon has been my comfort show all year — and George’s goodbye broke me
Young Sheldon is the show that’s been keeping me company through every meal this year, and the finale’s sendoff for George absolutely destroyed me.
Seeing the scene where he passes away had me crying nonstop. They were just about to move to Houston, finally get their Texas family photo, and start a new life… He was never perfect, but he showed up for his family in every way he could: taking Missy out on dates with her “princess backpack,” sitting with every kid through their breakdowns, even writing Mary letters just because international calls were too expensive.
Sheldon’s hyperthymesia means he can never forget his dad — he replays every memory, looking for the “best possible outcome” of every moment. The finale’s callback hit so hard: seeing adult Sheldon sit in his dad’s old chair, then cut back to little Sheldon talking to Penny, it’s like he never stopped missing him, even if he was never good at showing it.
I’m also so glad the writers fixed the “affair” retcon — they gave George such a dignified exit, no scandal, no cheating. The whole “blonde woman” from TBBT? It was just Mary in a wig, which even explains why Sheldon knocks three times. It feels like they were sorry they wrote him that way in the original show, and finally gave him the closure he deserved.
These two Sheldons (young and adult) are perfect. What a beautiful, full-circle moment for the whole series.
Young Sheldon & Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage
Okay so first I just want to say that I love Mandy and Connie’s friendship! I wish Connie was more in the First Marriage show as Mandy’s confidant!
Secondly, i’m rewatching Young Sheldon and i’m on the episode of Mandy’s baby shower where Connor’s character is first introduced. I completely forgot it’s a different actor from the Connor in First Marriage!! & instead of a music artist he’s a painter. I love the Connor they use in First Marriage, it’s so weird seeing this guy haha
Texans, how accurate are the accents?
I've never been to the Southern USA, so I have never heard people with southern accents in-person. I feel like a lot of non-southern actors exaggerate their accents in southern-themed TV shows and movies. I've only met one Texan and he didn't have that accent.
So, how accurate would you say the portrayal of the texan accent is on the show? What about other TV shows, is it better or worse?
Linkletter is a hypocrite.
He lectures Sheldon about not getting any credit for Dr. Sturgis's paper S3, E17. Then he argues his point about being someone who should be involved with the database. S6, E11.
If any of the other The Big Bang Theory characters got a Young Sheldon type of show, which ones would you want to watch?
I was thinking about if the other main characters other than Sheldon got a prequel centering on them as a kid, which ones would be interesting to watch?** **Heres what I personally think each would be like and my opinion, feel free to debate me! I’m interested in other peoples opinions. (:
Young Leonard
I feel like Leonard’s would be way too sad and it’s the only one I’m 99 percent sure that CBS couldn’t market since they primarily do comedy’s. I just can’t see it working.
It would likely just be Beverly being an awful and abusive mother, his parents crappy marriage, and poor little kid Leonard sad in his room. And also him getting bullied at school. And since Leonard is well liked? I can’t see anyone tuning into that. Even if he wasn’t well liked I couldn’t see anyone actively wanting to watch that. Maybe it would depend how they wrote it or if they softened the characters like in Young Sheldon, it could work? But I think within the canon, it’d be a hard pass.
Young Penny
I think after Sheldon, this would be the most realistic angle they could take. And honestly, I could see it working.
I imagine it’d be something like Green Acres or Schitt’s Creek with a family living on a farm but focusing on Penny wanting to be an actress. I think it could be cute. Granted, I don’t know where they’d go with it plot wise but it could definitely work.
Young Howard
Like Leonard, I imagine it’d be pretty sad. HOWEVER… I think it could actually work.
I feel they’d go with a single mom raising a ten year old boy angle. Howard getting into magic, science. Things like that. Plot wise, not sure where they’d take it but I think it could be fun to watch.
Young Raj
Omg this? I feel like this would be really interesting in terms of setting. Could you image a show set in India? Some rich kids running around a palace? In my opinion, I think that’d be super cool.
Also Raj canonically has a big family. I think three brothers and two sisters if I remember correctly. We only know about one, Priya, so they could definitely create some interesting dynamics.
I would totally watch this one.
Young Amy
This one would be tricky. It’d be a lot like Leonard’s where I think it’d be too sad. Just repeat about what I said with Leonard here, honestly.
Also, as much as I love Amy, I don’t think we know much extra about her childhood aside from her mom being overly strict. All I could see is a tv show with a dynamic like the mom and daughter in Carrie, and that seems wayyyyyy too dark.
Hard pass honestly. Which is sad cause a younger version of Amy could be really cute. It just gets ruined by the fact her childhood canonically sucked… However so did Sheldon’s but they fixed that up so maybe they could do the same, but I don’t know how they’d market it.
Young Bernadette
Lastly, Bernadette. Honestly, they could have a lot of creative freedom here because we know basically nothing from Bernadette’s childhood aside from that she did beauty pageants (unless I’m missing something)
I don’t know what they’d do here tbh, but maybe they could make something interesting? But with how much they butchered Bernadette in later seasons, I don’t see many people tuning in unless they market it well.
End
Anyway, those are my thoughts. Like I said, I’m curious what other people think! So discuss away and thanks for reading!
Does anyone have a link to download this
I want to download this but Netflix is a pain in the ass with screen recording. I want it for a TikTok
It’s e2s17 between 12:00 and 12:30 on timebar
Missy is worse than Sheldon
At least Sheldon, no matter how clueless or selfish he is, cares for his family. But Missy is genuinely selfish and only cares for herself. Here are some examples:
Blowing up her mom’s trophy which she took the time and effort to make. I’m fine with her not liking it, I really am. However, she could’ve just kept it in her room in the back of the cupboard or something and politely thank Mary. What she did was wayyyy too far, esp considering her family had limited money.
Ditching Billy to attend Brittney’s party. Come on, Missy literally called her a bitch a few hours ago before getting that phone call. Billy was her longtime friend and I understand that a movie could be rescheduled, but it doesn’t reflect well on her to be so readily willing to hang out with the mean girl who was trying to prank her friend.
Telling Sheldon she hated him before they left for Germany. Broke my heart, esp when she left the radio in front of his door. Sheldon did love Missy and wanted to look out for her - at a time when her parents barely noticed her. You can be mad at him for snitching but the complete coldness she showed was pretty terrible.
On a similar vein, hanging up on Sheldon when he was lost in Germany. This could’ve ended up VERY badly for Sheldon, as he was a vulnerable kid who was lost in a foreign country he didn’t speak the language of. Ik it was his fault by disobeying his mom in the first place, but hanging up on your twin brother who could be in danger to talk to your friends? And not informing anyone till an hour later? Wow.
A few more examples I can think of are stealing George’s truck, all her shenanigans in GAMFM (like pulling the fire alarm, running off to marry her bf, using her dead dad as an excuse for stuff), telling Sheldon it was his fault that he was a freak and his parents were fighting.
Young Sheldon Reveals that Missy has a Happy Ending
In the end of TBBT, Sheldon wins a Nobel prize. At the time, Missy was separated from her husband and had an unwanted pregnancy (so things were not going so great for her). However, in S4 E11 of Young Sheldon, Sheldon says that "Only one of us (him and Missy) has a Nobel prize. All the other one (Missy) has is a loving family and friends."
This must mean that 1) Sheldon is narrating after the events of TBBT, and 2) that Missie ends up with a loving family and friends after the events of YS, GMFM, and TBBT.
Missy really had an unfairly hard life in YS, GMFM, and TBBT, so I'm really happy that she gets a happy ending.
