This is my opinion of where you should start as a fingerboarder?
I’ve been asked where to start on a number of my post and have sent this answer a few times and I figured I share. This advice this is MY advice and what I learnt from MY experience and where I think you should start if I had to do it all over again without wasting money. If you have other advice even if it’s completely opposite please share I’m here to help as many people as possible.
Some good brands I recommend (strictly for ease of use)
Flat face g16 decks are amazing first decks, anything with low concave high kicks is great for beginners (always check the mold)
Other brands I recommend would be “blcny” they have an amazing penthouse mold and the guy who owns it is a great dude and has always took care of me eventhough he has no idea who I am. He makes the decks on his Blcny in San Francisco and the quality is absolutely amazing.
Just remember if you’re going to buy a deck from flat face it doesn’t come with grip. If you need trucks I would go with leefais (search the name on amazon DO NOT BUY THEIR WHEELS) to start for professional trucks and get some teak tubing bushings they’re great. The stock tuning (bushings and pivot cups) on leefais suck. For wheels I would invest in super heavy and get some good flat face ones. I would go with a pair of G8s. Best beginner tape is UAG tape you can also get it from flat face. It’s overly grippy but super great for beginners to understand all your hand movements for tricks. And just remember to have fun and don’t get frustrated (the hardest part) 😂
