LEGo 2 Broken OLED Display
So, here's the story. My Legion Go 2 fell off the bed onto the tiled floor. As always, it was in its original protective case. The bed is maybe 45 cm high. I came back to the hotel and found the Legion lying on the floor. My girlfriend must have accidentally knocked it off the bed.
I think the following happened:
The Legion Go 2 fell sideways onto the left controller. This exerted pressure on the tablet's casing. As a result, the OLED display glass broke. The OLED substrate is intact. Perhaps it's a soft OLED (flexible). I strongly suspect this is the case since Samsung Display manufactures the OLED display. The Lenovo 9H protective glass is completely intact. I initially thought it was broken, but unfortunately, it was the display... barely two months old!!!
My current situation isn't exactly ideal:
I bought it from the Lenovo Store in Malaysia
Currently traveling in Asia
I live in Germany
The warranty is in Malaysia 😂
But a broken display is my own fault anyway, so no manufacturer will honor the warranty.
Maybe it'll work through my personal liability insurance. Otherwise, I'll have to hope for a goodwill gesture from Lenovo. I'm hoping the 9H protective glass is intact. There are also specialized repair shops in Hong Kong and China that focus on OLED display lamination and repairs in general. Maybe I'll check them out.
Anyone else with a defective display of any kind? It could also be from a GO 1 or GO S. How did you handle it, and what were the costs?
